Selected filmography

As per Wikipedia is not a collection of lists, I have reduced the "Filmography" section to just the films that have Wiki articles, and renamed it to "Selected filmography" ... people can click the IMDb External link at the end of the article to see the subject's full filmography with links to information about each of their films.

I have also used [[19xx in film|19xx]] tags for the years of the films, something that Some Other Editors do not appear to understand, since they seem to think that just linking [[19xx]] somehow has encyclopedic value.

Anonymous edits without comments may be reverted by anyone.

I am placing this boilerplate message on this Discussion page before I actually make the changes, so that I can just put "see Discussion page" in the edit summary, and hopefully not have my edit summarily reverted as vandalism by Some Other Editor.

Dawn Bethel

Some sources ([1]) say she was either born "Dawn Bethel", or at least used that name for a time before becoming "Sheree North". Bethel was her mother's maiden name, so it's unlikely Sheree was born with this name, but more likely to have used it in her early career. -- JackofOz (talk) 22:54, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

She was born Dawn Shirley Crang to Richard Crang and June Shoard. Her stepfather was Edward Bethel and she was known by his surname before she became "Sheree North." Ancestry.com's California Birth Index lists her as Dawn Shirley Crang, born 17 Jan 1932, mother's maiden name Shoard. Is that good enough to remove the "or Bethel" notation in the article?67.188.178.114 (talk) 06:38, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Well, the issue is that different reliable sources are reporting the two different last-names. I'm not sure but the California Birth Index could also be considered a primary source...I'm inclined to leave the text as is. Shearonink (talk) 13:01, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

I recently saw the Burt Lancaster movie "Lawman", with Ms. North in it. I remember that Sheree had developed a nervous twitch in her head which caused her to noticebly shake. Being a professional, naturally she tried to bravely miminalize this condition in front of the cameras. The condition got worse as time went on. I do remember seeing her in the latter years' episodes of "All in the Family", where she played a woman in contention with "Archie" and her husband. Her shakes were visblbly worse. I'm not disagreeing with the fact that she seemed to have some sort of tremors later in life but unless reliable sources are found that mention her condition, then the issue cannot be mentioned in the article. Shearonink (talk) 13:05, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

"Tone" notice & unsourced notices

For instance, the following sentences: "North enjoyed working with her co-stars, Tom Ewell, Rita Moreno, and Rick Jason." (Enjoyed? How does the reader know that?) and "Fox was thrilled with the success of the film."(again, unsourced and using a value-laden adjective to describe an action) and "but the studio began to lose interest" (again, unsourced) gives this article a "fan"-POV air. Wikipedia articles are supposed to have a neutral point of view and are supposed to back-up assertions with reliably- sourced information. Shearonink (talk) 14:14, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

FilmBug references

While doing research today I noticed that the FilmBug article on Miss North states this fact at the bottom:

Article text released under CC-BY-SA. It uses material from the Wikipedia article "Sheree North" (04-Dec-2005)

So, FilmBug used material from the November 4, 2005 version of Sheree North. And then the Wikipedia article uses that material to reference itself? I don't think so, that's called WP:CIRCULAR and is self-referencing. I have, therefore, removed the FilmBug reference from the article. Shearonink (talk) 14:59, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
