Derivation edit
Please explain, with references, whether the name is from شهيد "martyr" or from شاهد "witness". If from شاهد it may or may not be theophoric (reference?). If from شهيد I don't see how it can be theophoric. I realise the two words are from the same root and closely related, but vowel length is distinctive in this case. --dab (𒁳) 13:06, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
