New Article Feedback edit

Hey- I think you're article looks really good! Let me know if there is anything you would like help with. User: Kphillips721 —Preceding undated comment added 02:08, 20 April 2012 (UTC).Reply

Hi - the article looks like it is off to a good start. However, it seems like the entire first paragraph is a quote. This is not the proper style for presenting a quote, as it should be introduced. The article is a bit essay-ish, so please make an effort to clean that up. Debaser42 (talk) 17:38, 15 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thoughts on the article edit

Hey- I think your article is really interesting and well-done. However, I have to agree with Zach that the opening paragraph sets an odd tone to the article and doesn't seem very "wiki-ish". You "consequences" section also seems to have an opinionated tone to it. I'm going to make some minor changes and if you don't like any of them feel free to revert :) see you in class tomorrow (Channinged5 (talk) 15:52, 27 March 2012 (UTC)Channinged5)Reply

I think this is a really interesting topic to write an article about, and I am excited to continue reading it. There is definitely room to expand your article and talk more about the sexualizing in child beauty pageants. The first thing that came to my mind when reading this was the TLC show Toddlers & Tiaras. There is a short Wikipedia article on it and I think it would be beneficial to link this to your article. I’m not sure if there are other tv shows like this but it would be interesting to find out and if there are add some more information about the reality television shows portraying little girls in this light. I think you could expand a little bit more about the consequences and how putting children in these pageants at such young ages really deprives them of a full childhood experience. As you quoted earlier, their childhood innocence is declining because of this. This is definitely a good start and there is room to expand your article! Hey Jordan, article looks wonderful. I think you should add a topic about the aftermath of children who have been in beauty pageants as a child. Like what some of the children have grown up to be/become. Think that would be interesting and would prove your point more on how damaging these pageants are. Hey, try using blogs or interviews to complement your research and get an ex pageant girl's point of view. Pdebarro (talk) 13:46, 11 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Changes edit

I know I'm not one of your peer reviewers but thought I'd provide help anyway. :) I just lower-cased your sub-topic titles, as that's what Zach said to do last week. For example, from "Sexualization in Child Beauty Pageants" to "Sexualization in child beauty pageants." I don't know why Wikipedia prefers that...I've always learned to capitalize, but oh well! I removed a quotation taken from an article that I wrote that was cited out of context, and used to support a position quite contrary to my own. I really wish people would read academic articles properly before quoting out of context. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joanne Faulkner (talkcontribs) 12:52, 17 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sentence Clarity in Criticism of sexualization in child beauty pageants edit

The first sentence in this section seems as though it would read better if the comma was removed and the word "and" replaced it. I changed this but if anyone thinks this is wrong please respond, thanks! Happylittletrees (talk) 05:10, 19 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Working on this page edit

Hi I think this topic is very interesting and contains a lot of great information. I am working on adding a section on Training for Beauty pageants around the world. T Shrell 19:21, 19 March 2019 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by T Shrell (talkcontribs)

@T Shrell: The training section has very little to say about the topic of the article, sexualization in child beauty pageants. Instead, it looks like a vehicle for advertising of particular schools and courses. I'd prefer the section did not name any such schools, particularly if the only source is each school's own website. -- John of Reading (talk) 11:22, 22 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
@John of Reading: I completely agree with you. I'd like to start revising the training section by removing any information irrelevant to the subject of Sexualization in child beauty pageants. I think a short paragraph with an overview of training for child beauty paegant training is sufficient. I also think the page could benefit from further elaboration on the consequences of child beauty paegants.--Stumblingsnail (talk) 23:04, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Child drag shows edit

Let us add this topic. I could not find a main article with a Controversies section. Zezen (talk) 12:53, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

I noted that 'adolescence' was misspelled as 'adolecense' in the sction on 'consequences.' — Preceding unsigned comment added by 168.99.199.35 (talk) 04:34, 5 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
