I have removed this passage:

Pollack, and C.Sagan, "Nuclear Winter: Global Consequences of Multiple Nuclear Explosions", Science, 23 December 1983: Vol. 222. no. 4630, pp.1283–1292) Claims of KGB involvement have existed since the mid 1980s, fueled in part by the strange disappearance of Vladimir Alexandrov, (http://www.time.com/time/magazine/printout/0,8816,960025,00.html A 1985 Time magazine account of Alexandrov's disappearance) the co-author of a mathematical model of Nuclear Winter. (Alexandrov, V. V. and G. I. Stenchikov (1983): "On the modeling of the climatic consequences of the nuclear war", The Proceeding of Appl. Mathematics, 21 p., The Computing Center of the AS USSR, Moscow, 1983)

Tretyakov does not refer to these publications. Sagan's contribution to the 1983 paper in Science is discussed by Pete Earley, not by Tretyakov. (Comrade J, pp.173ff.) All that Tretyakov says about Sagan is that he did not meet him (p.177) and that he "did not know if Mr.Sagan knew the KGB was behind this effort." Tretyakov's case is that the nuclear winter scenario was developed by Western scientists, in particular Crutzen and Birks, "Twilight at Noon" (1982),^[1] as a result of being fed data from fraudulent, unpublished reports written by Kondratyev, Golitsyin, Alexandrov, Stenchikov and Moiseev at the command of the KGB. Key papers by Kondratyev, Alexandrov and Moiseev, including the very paper on dust storms in the Karakum desert referred to by Tretyakov, were openly published in the West before the Crutzen and Birks paper: Kondratyev, et. al., Comparison between the measured and calculated spectral characteristics of shortwave radiation in the free atmosphere over the desert (1976);^[2] and Alexandrov, Moiseyev, et. al., Global models, the biospheric approach (1981)^[3]
