Serbian slant

Series of articles on "Serbian revolution", or national awakening during 19th and first two decades of 20th century, lacking perspectives and insights in such complex subject which is other then Serbian. This particular article could hardly fit in some guide book for museum of national history or national military museum, let alone for internet encyclopedia in English language.

I understand that people feel a need to proudly announce to the world their heroic national narratives and foundation myths, in celebratory manner and language, but lets make distinction between Wikipedia and national history textbooks for elementary and secondary schools, and/or history in accordance to national education plan and program, not to mention to nationalistic ideologies and narratives.

Here we can notice how there is no mention of consequences of such huge and tragical historical events on indigenous non-Serbian and/or non-Orthodox population, their property, ethnic and religious heritage and culture, entire towns or city quarters where they consisted majority of population, as if they are of no consequence to readers !? We can read about Ottoman revenge and brutality before or after some military operation attempted by Serbs, but absolutely nothing on retaliation of Serbian forces on non-Orthodox-Serbs, let alone about premeditated atrocities and brutality undertaken by Serbs ! We can find out about how Ottomans hampered religious freedoms, but not a word about complete obliteration of all signs of Muslim presence in the aftermaths of these events, and so on.

OK, I can understand if consequences regarding non-Serb population aren't important at all to Serbian reader, but hey, for these readers there exists sr.wikipedia, where anyone can write what ever Serbian wikipedians agree is reality. On English Wikipedia we should try to write in accordance to rules, and when something doesn't looks exactly right we should try to improve it. Oldest in Balkans?

Definition of "Balkans" is debatable, but you may be right. I removed the claim, deciding on the seniority of Balkan universities seems to me to be too tangential to the scope of this article anyway. Forbes72 (talk) 19:47, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

While Istanbul is technically located in the Balkans, Turkey is never regarded the Balkans.--Zoupan 19:53, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
