Concerning reversions by Ezhiki --

("community" is not an established term for settlements in Russia;)

I don't see that I ever maintained it was; I simply used it in its general sense of a local area in which people live together. If it were an "established term" (in the institutional/administrative sense I think you are implying) then I would have linked the term. However, in case you still believe that the use of "community" would lead readers to think that it is an official category of settlement in Russia, I have recast the first sentence.

(1901 is hardly "ancient".)

Here, you have simply misread the sentence. Presented with "An ancient city, Athens grew rapidly in the 1920s", would you retort that the 1920s are hardly ancient? Savyolovo, the site of the station, was an ancient village. See, for example,

Позже в состав города вошло и старинное село Савелово, где расположена одноименная железнодорожная станция. [1]

If старинное село does not mean "ancient village" then I don't know what does.

Besides, your amendment of the text to read S. is a railway station [...] Its expansion [...] was due to the opening there in 1901 of a railway station does not make a lot of sense (the station expanded because a station was built there).

Finally, I have amended the date to 1900, which was when the line opened to traffic (even though construction of the Moscow terminus was delayed). -- Picapica 10:02, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi Picapica, and thanks for your concerns. The reason why I edited "community" out is because the majority of other articles about Russian locations specify the type of those location in the intro line. Seeing that Savyolovo is a "community" may be confusing to a reader who has just read other articles about Russian towns, urban-type settlements, or villages. While any human settlement is a community, of course, I'd rather keep intros consistent, and spell out what type of community each settlement is.

After you pointed it out, I also see how this sentence creates confusion further down the article. I have slightly copyedited a paragraph there to maintain consistency of the intro and to clarify the meaning.

As for the "ancient" portion, I admit I mis-read the addition. Sorry! And thank you for correcting the date.

Thanks for the correction concerning the name of the Savyolovsky vokzal, Goudzovski. I plead guilty to having believed the claim in RZhD's history of the station:

... единственному московскому вокзалу, имя которому дал не город, а село.
