Talk:Savile Club

Latest comment: 6 years ago by Michael Bednarek in topic Possible image

User:Charleyhatches added the names below under prominent members, and then proceeded to make odd POV edits elsewhere. I suggest that these names are checked and then added to the list if they really are part of the Saville Club:

  1. Malcolm Arnold
  2. Sir Adrian Boult
  3. Sir Huw Wheldon
  4. Jimmy Edwards
  5. Gilbert Harding
  6. Sir Ralph Richardson
  7. Robert Clarke (yacht designer)
  8. Ben Lucien Burman (American childrens' author)
  9. Stephen Potter ("Gamesmanship")
  10. Wynford Vaughan Thomas
  11. Sir Edward Elgar
  12. William Golding ("Lord of the Flies")
  13. Frank Muir

All of the above sound plausible except 7 and 8 who I haven't heard of. Of course, sources must be found. Xxanthippe (talk) 00:05, 28 May 2009 (UTC).Reply

Savile Club edit

Why did you remove the tag regarding the poor referencing. There are very few inline citations. For example, the statement "The Savile's reputation for being literary, academic and arts club is a little erroneous, deriving, perhaps, from its origins as a purely social club rather than a club with political, sporting or professional objectives." is clearly someone's opinion and should be referenced as such. Ideally. each statement of fact/opinion should be properly cited. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 08:50, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Read the references at the bottom, particularly Anderson. Xxanthippe (talk) 09:26, 28 May 2011 (UTC).Reply

Definitely. It's been in this article since 6 March 2010 until 26 March 2016, when it was replaced by File:Savile Club Bar, Maja Photo, Mar 2016.JPEG which was removed on 8 April 2016 and not replaced. I have no preference which of those two should be used here. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 04:19, 1 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
