Changes to plot make no sense

The plot section has been greatly reduced, as is probably necessary. What has been left however makes literally no sense, referring to abbreviations and characters that have not been mentioned before, jumping in time, missing sections and being generally uninformative as a result.

Recommend that the user who reduced the "insanely long plot" try again, but try to leave something coherent this time.
