Talk:Samira Saraya

There are some really weird issues with revisions made to this article:

  1. Samira is an Arab, her name is in Arabic, her language is Arabic. Why is her name added in Hebrew? Not appropriate.
  2. Samira is Palestinian. The term "Israeli Arab" is widely considered insulting by Arabs who are citizens of Israel. No other group has that naming convention - erasing their ethnicity. They are Palestinian, or Druze, or Bedouin - lumping them together in a way that differentiates them and marginalizes them is part of a national policy to erase their individual ethicities.[1]]https://www.mako.co.il/news-channel2/Friday-Newscast-q4_2014/Article-1722fa6ca7fa941004.htm]
  3. But beyond the general question - if someone wants to call themselves an Israeli Arab I guess that's okay, it just doesn't need to be forced on someone who does NOT identify that way - and Saraya is ethnically Palestinian and identifies as such. Also - all the sources for this article identify her as Palestinian, NOT A SINGLE ARTICLE says "Israeli Arab". Anywhere on the internet.[2][3][4][5]anza.co.il/site/article/article_view/news-1550052252 This one specifically talks about "The Bedouin Girls Met the Palestinian Actress from Fauda" - note that these are ALL Israeli press - seriously, if even they aren't calling her that awful phrase....][6][7] And here are some in English: [8][9][10]

Also, while I am not new to Wikipedia in general, most of my experience is not on ENWIKI. I'd like to know why the person who reverted me is getting precedence, and how this is decided on this wikipedia. Thanks! TMagen (talk) 20:27, 22 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi TMagen. There is no such thing as precedence. There are facts, supported by independent sources and consensus, developed by editors. Cheers, Arthistorian1977 (talk) 20:40, 22 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Good, I'm glad we agree. All the sources say "Palestinian", that is a fact... And since your opinion doesn't have precedence (and is just odd, and grammatically incorrect (a Arab-Israeli?) I am reverting you - if somehow you get a different consensus you can then change it. TMagen (talk) 20:43, 22 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Ah, well, someone beat me to it. Cheers, TMagen (talk) 20:43, 22 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
