Saintes, Charente-MaritimeSaintes – "Saintes" still redirects here. IMHO main title and, btw, in Saintes (disambiguation) we can found Îles des Saintes (not Saintes, Guadeloupe or else) and a Belgian former commune, still now a red link. Thanks. relisted --Mike Cline (talk) 23:19, 18 December 2011 (UTC) --Dэя-Бøяg 12:44, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment the disambiguation page should be primary. "Saintes" is the plural of "Sainte" as well, which exists at Saint; the disambiguation page Saint (disambiguation) indicates there's also a canton called "Saintes" (The Saints Canton, or as our mixed French/English title calls it Canton of Les Saintes) 76.65.128.198 (talk) 15:36, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Sainte is a French word, and this is English Wp. Saintes (disambiguation) is different from Saint (disambiguation), referred to saint/saints. I've reverted and added a link from Saints. --Dэя-Бøяg 16:13, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
After a most detailed control of titles on the two dabpages, I've reverted my edits. I agree with the merging. --Dэя-Бøяg 01:20, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment -- The first use that I would think of is Battle of the Saintes. which did not appear on any dabpage until I put it there, which took its name from Îles des Saintes. Its other uses hatnote link is to Saint (disambiguation). I have therefore merged the two dab pages, ensuring that all the Saintes content was added to the other and that it is redirected there. The distinction between the two is a very slight one: Sainte is the French feminine of Saint and Saintes of Saints. However the questrion is what is the primary usage. I could live with this article being moved to Saintes with a hatnote for an otheruses dablink. I do not know if the Îles take their name from the French place or from having a church or churches deducated to two female saints, but we normally treat colonial places sharing a name with one in a mother country as secondary. note I had an edit conflict with the deletion of another comment, presumablu by its author. Peterkingiron (talk) 16:30, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for edit conflict. It was a technical error of mine, answering to the dabpage merge. I've replaced it. --Dэя-Бøяg 01:20, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. There is nothing substantial to be gained by omitting the qualifier, and something substantial to be lost. The present DAB page shows too many confusibles for this to be a sound move. NoeticaTea? 00:22, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

(After relisting)

  • Now Oppose -- I think it best for things to remain as they are, for reasons set out above. Peterkingiron (talk) 11:41, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • Now Oppose because the disambiguation page should be primary, and thus Saintes should redirect to the disambiguation page. 76.65.128.198 (talk) 05:58, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
