St. Martin D'Ardeche has a number of successful local wine growers which should be mentioned and who have gained notoriety more recently. Dumas is one of the two and has a tasting cave nearby the church. The other escapes me.

Also worth adding is Dada/Surrealist artist Max Ernst hid out in Ardeche in the hills in the guarrigue. The house he lived in still has sculptures built into the walls showing lifesize human/animal hybrids. The house can be found headed into the Guarrigue from town - about 1km from the village center. There are still a few artist communities that reverberate his presence.

A mosaic bat in front of the church square was created in his honor - it's a bright 2m diameter bat with rust and earth tone reds on the ground close to the city center. 68.41.1.184 (talk) 00:25, 27 August 2008 (UTC)ant1Reply
