Number on board/survived edit

Is there a total available for the number of people who were on board when it wrecked at Centerville, and however many that survived, if any? I did not see those numbers in the article. Norcalal (talk) 08:56, 19 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes, looked tonight... "108 persons on board at the time of the wreck, of whom 58 were passengers and 53 the crew. Of the passengers, 17 were lost and 38 saved; of the crew, 21 were lost and 32 saved." (already cited in article... http://www.nytimes.com/1860/02/11/news/loss-steamship-northerner-statement-capt-dall-names-lost-saved.html) agrees with the "38 lost" (cite Lewis and Dryden) . It's far too late for me to make wiki changes tonight, so I'll park the info here and if you get to it, great, otherwise I'll update it in next few days. Sharp eyes, good catch ! Tonight, I added the casualties and survivors, also added commons category, migrated the images to commons, and checked the categories there and here.Ellin Beltz (talk) 06:28, 24 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
