I'm concerned that the article appears to in places currently be about "Wolfram's relationship with SMP", rather than about SMP. A specific version of this concern is with the sentence "SMP was influenced by the earlier computer algebra systems Macsyma (of which Wolfram was a user) and Schoonschip (whose code Wolfram studied)." I think it's fine that we mention the influences, but should not over-emphasize the connection with Wolfram. And what is Cole's role in all of this? I agree that this article is about SMP, and not about Wolfram. That said, it's good to have an indication of the intellectual influences on its design. I was part of the Macsyma group at the time that Wolfram was a user, and the buzz at the time was that much of the design of SMP was in reaction to things he didn't like about Macsyma...! Similarly, the Ada (programming language) and Jean Ichbiah articles correctly mention the influence of Ichbiah's previous experience with Pascal, Simula 67, and LIS. --Macrakis (talk) 01:37, 7 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
