I think the bass tuning stated in this article isn't correct. F is the diminished 4th of root note B so I don't think his bass would be tuned in that way. Also the bass and guitar are usually tuned in 4ths so it wouldn't make sense for the strings to be tuned like F, B, F, etc. It would probably be tuned F#, B, F# (kind of like drop D on a guitar, except extremely lower. Although, the low F# (below the low B which is usually the bottom string on a 5 string bass) is barely within the frequency range of human hearing...let alone any known amplifier output. So I think Martinie's bass tuning is probably somthing like B, E, A, D, G...but I don't know for sure so for now I'm just going to edit the page to say F# instead of F. I'll try to confirm it and see if I can cite it. But as far as I know and from jamming along with Mudvayne's L.D.50 album, it seems like he has the tuning how I said. On the LD50 album, their guitars are mostly tuned to B (the guitar is tuned like so: B, F#, B, E, G#, C#...same tuning as Drop D tuning except down 3 semitones). I jam along to LD50 songs with my 4 string tuned down to B, F#, B, E and actually it works out pretty well, but on some songs it seems like he has an extra string above rather than below. So there's my 2 cents. Mudvayne rocks! Martinie's bass style is just very unique. It sounds like he's doin a lot of slap kind of stuff and just some really great, extreme bass lines. And some awesome funky lines sometimes. Anyway he rocks. - --Carl236 (talk) 07:08, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wow... edit

This page is so awful. It has some decent information but it looks like a 12 year old wrote a C grade essay. I'd like to get some people to help me fix it up. 137.92.97.111 (talk) 23:17, 26 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree, especially the Right Hand/Left Hand part. Sounds more like fan-written essay than professional. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.11.252.253 (talk) 07:43, 5 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

TUNING IS CORRECT edit

Most of the info here was stolen from bassplayer mag(i dont know the issue no off hand, but i have it at home.) i recognized the "all get dr high beams" which hgas now been changed.

now, a note on turning, mudvayne always plays down-tuned variants of drop-d tuning (top string down 1 tone). for ld50 they played a step and a half down (drop b) and on his 5 string the 5th is dropped as well (3.5 tones down from b). on all albums since they moved up a semitone to dropped c. this was to help chad (singer) sing easier (as is apparent with less screaming in further recordings). the 5th string is dropped also, making tuning g-c-g-c-f.

this information is readily verifiable, i will correct the article later in the week once i have found the bass player mag to cite. Jepetto (talk) 20:13, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
