Bili? edit

What is the source that the ruan was called "bili"? Bili is generally the alternate name for the guan (instrument), a type of oboe. Badagnani 03:31, 4 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Meaning of "Ruan" surname? edit

What did the "Ruan" surname mean before Ruan Xian invented the instrument "ruan"? The Wiktionary entry doesn't say. Badagnani 19:47, 12 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Merge from zhongruan edit

  • Support merge from zhongruan. There isn't really enough information about the various specific sizes of ruan to warrant separate articles (as there is, for example, for the violin, viola, and cello). Badagnani 03:54, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Strongly Disagree. The Ruan's are as different as the violin, viola, and cello. Just because there is not enough information YET, does not mean it does not warrant a seperate article. Wenzi 04:22, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

It has been three week. The merge tag should be removed Wenzi 10:39, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Shape of ancient version edit

Why does the old image of the ruanxian look almost entirely like a sanxian with a wooden soundbox? Badagnani (talk) 05:52, 12 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Construction of the Ruan edit

Although the Ruan is made with different materials today than it was 2000 years ago, the means of creating it today are very similar to the ancient ways. Found from :43 of this [http:// explore.org/explore/china/films/7 short film].—Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.103.50.98 (talk) 21:17, 23 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I don't agree with this. Badagnani (talk) 03:46, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Notable players and composers edit

Are all of the people listed notable as both players and composers? Or are some of them just noted players, others just noted composers, and some both?

The article on zhongruan lists players and composers separately; I think the same standard should be applied to this article, but I don't know enough about the people listed to make the change myself. 74.95.43.249 (talk) 21:17, 3 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

RuanRuan (instrument) – no clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC [1] Joeykai (talk) 15:41, 25 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Ruan (disambiguation) In ictu oculi (talk) 15:57, 26 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nomination. The Chinese instrument is not primary. Also support Ruan (disambiguation)Ruan, as pointed out by In ictu oculi. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 16:58, 26 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Weak support the instrument gets 1,154 views but the surname gets 893, the 1995 footballer gets 519, the Irish village gets 142, the French village gets 12 and the 1998 footballer gets 8. The instruement may be primary by PT#2 but disambiguation is probably the best choice. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:30, 26 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nom. No clear primary topic for this title. The safest bet would be to move disambiguation page to the basename. Paintspot Infez (talk) 05:24, 27 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nom, DAB at base name.--Ortizesp (talk) 17:02, 27 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
