Discussion edit

Matthews is spelled with a double T. Article has been redirected to the one with the correct spelling. ----

No, IMDB has it wrong. Mathews spells his name with only ONE T.

Sources:

I've reverted it accordingly and will submit the correction to IMDB as well. Rcharman 05:09, 27 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Capitalization edit

I want to fix the following sentence: Mathews appeared on The Rosie o'donnell Show as a kid. to Mathews appeared on The Rosie O'Donnell Show as a kid. but I can't. Could someone?

That had been bugging me, too. It's fixed now. Cromulent Kwyjibo 21:48, 18 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I didn't realize if I clicked "edit this page" it would work. Duh! Mrs. Grobe 21:58, 18 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

"This article requires authentication or verification by an expert." edit

So... who exactly would qualify as an expert capable of performing this verification? Cromulent Kwyjibo 22:44, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

The user who put the tag has now changed it to "This biographical article needs additional references for verification." So if we find citations for the stuff marked with them "citation needed" tags, that should take care of it. Cromulent Kwyjibo 21:51, 18 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

E!'s 30 most outrageous celebrities? edit

I removed this from the article:

The E! network named Mathews one of the 30 Most Outrageous Celebrities.{{Fact|date=May 2007}}

The only page I can find to back this up is http://www.zimbio.com/Ross+Mathews, and they took it from us! I've tried looking for it at eonline.com with no success. Donnabella 22:54, 20 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Apparently his talent agency says it is a fact.

Homosexuality edit

Usually when wikipedia hosts an article about a homosexual person, they explicitly label their sexual preference, but not with Ross. I don't mean to sound crude about this, but don't you think it should be mentioned here somewhere? I mean, Ross is very gay. He's probably the gayest man on television, and that's not an exaggeration. 214.13.208.180 19:56, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't know what your basis is for the opening assertion in your post, but all information in Wikipedia articles has to have cited sources. If you know of a credible source for Mathews' homosexuality, then feel free to provide it. :-) Nightscream 20:17, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well I suppose you're right. Beyond the obvious I can't prove it. 214.13.209.200 01:11, 13 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

He attended an HRC event and got some guy's number there [1]. DHN 06:45, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Many people probably attended the HRC, not just gays. As for getting someone's number, I don't see any mention that he did so on that page. Nightscream 15:13, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Read the comments (search for "HRC"). It's not confirmed by him but not denied either. DHN 17:49, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I already did a search on that word prior to composing my last post above. There is nothing there that indicates he got some guy's number there, or anyone's number, for that matter. Nightscream 20:00, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Think easier. Try Youtubing his appearance on The View. You might find something a little more conclusive than some rumor about HRC there. Donnabella 22:59, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
All right. Even if you can't find a "source" that proves he's gay, the fact that he acts in a stereotypically gay fashion has to be worked into the article. I mean come on. Whether he's like that in real life or not, its the entire basis for his act. (anonymous) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.29.27.31 (talk) 02:53, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, it does not "have" to be worked into the article, even if one can't find a source for it. If there's no source for it, then that assertion is a personal observation, which violates OR and NPOV. Nightscream (talk) 12:51, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

He was on the cover of Instinct Magazine (a gay publication) and they refered to him as gay. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.83.221.130 (talk) 17:24, 7 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Are you referring to this article: http://instinctmagazine.com/cover-story/ross-mathews---1-crush.html ? Donnabella (talk) 00:51, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
That article is MORE than enough citation. The fact has been added with the relevant link. TheGoonSquad (talk) 01:19, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ross Matthews' Hormone Imbalance edit

I think Ross Matthews might have hypogonadism because of his low level of testosterone for a guy. It is very easy to tell that he hardly has any testosterone because his vocal cords didn't enlarge since he grew up, hence his feminine voice.66.168.54.243 (talk) 01:36, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

There's more to his feminine voice than just pitch. Male and female voices only differ by a half-octave. Gilbert Gottfried has a female-range pitched voice as well, however his manner of speech is masculine. Looking at pictures online, he does not appear to have any noticeable Adam's Apple, which is in keeping with his vocal range. I don't know if there are any articles on here about transgender voice therapy, however it really does point out the real differences between male and female voices. The other cue here that there is more than pitch is Monty Python and various other falsetto voices. --Puellanivis (talk) 08:17, 11 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
What is your source for the assertion that he has a low level of testosterone or the growth progress of his vocal cords? Nightscream (talk) 10:16, 11 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
It's a presumption not an assertion. --Puellanivis (talk) 01:48, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

"Openly" gay edit

Just wondering if there's some official style point out there that if a living person is out of the closet, we have to say "openly gay". If they weren't openly gay, what would they be? If they weren't openly gay, how would you know? If they weren't openly gay, would you out them in a Wikipedia article? Greyspeir (talk) 13:41, 27 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
