Open water record claim edit

Just to confirm that I cannot find anything so far to confirm that the British Long Distance Swimming Association has ratified the record claimed by Edgley (as is mentioned in some sources as being ongoing), and his name is not found using the search bar on their homepage.

The Inverness Courier stated on 24 September: "An extreme swimmer who is thought to have set a new local record after swimming for more than 52 hours in Loch Ness is in hospital for checks but is said to be "resting and well", and on 3 October there is no mention of record verification. It appears these sources (including Northern Times) are surveilling Edgley's social media to obtain their content.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 10:58, 5 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • I've continued to surveil the news for any update on ratification; commentors at a WP:SPS give reasons why it could not be ratified -
    • He was wearing a wetsuit, which sometimes impacts whether or not the record is ratified
    • It’s already been denounced by the Marathon Swim Federation. Wetsuits disqualify any ratified swim, not to mention thermal cap and gloves. He also failed to provide GPS tracking, which is required for any record attempt. Even the mileage he claims is wrong.
