Contested deletion edit
This page should not be speedy deleted because it features information about one of the lesser-known projects of singer Azam Ali. Roseland might not be Azam Ali's greatest musical achievement (certainly not among my favorites), but it just so happens to be unique is several respects and deserves to be known at the very least for the sake of completion and exactitude. Among the rare features of this work I can at least cite the following:
1. The English language: Roseland features Azam singing entirely in English (which is a first). This might appear as an unimportant fact but it is actually rather significant. Prior to Roseland, Azam mostly sang in idioglossia and other forms of invented languages. She basically used her voice as a pure musical instrument not limited by the meanings of words in any specific language. In some of her other works where she sang in actual languages, she sang in obscure languages of the Middle Age. This is the first work where she sings in a language that anybody can understand. In her other albums after Roseland, she mostly sings in languages from the Middle East and South Asia, again languages that are not very accessible to her large Western fan base.
2. Rock sounds: Prior to Roseland, Azam mostly used traditional instruments (mostly "unplugged" instruments) from the Middle East and South Asia in her music that could be categorized as a form of Alternative World Music. Roseland is the first and only album featuring Azam with a dark rock sound.
3. Electronica: This is one of the first Azam Ali albums where electronica has been heavily used.
4. Rarity: This album is extremely rare. Azam is relatively well-known for her work with Vas and Niyaz, but extremely few people know about Roseland, let alone own the album. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donfenix (talk • contribs) 23:24, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
