Re-assessment edit

I reasessed the article's quality, making it a B class because it has everything listed under "B" class requirements. Can someone add more about park management so it can be GA class? Cmputer 13:15, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

This article seems to be serverly lacking in sources, which means it fails B class. I've moved it down to C, its significantly more than a Start but just not up to scratch to B. On a side note, i moved the RCP importance rating up to mid as it is a Roller Coaster simulator, which uses realistic physics. Thanks, --MattWT 05:00, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
C class is fine, since the article is definitely better than start class. --Cmputer 22:52, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Unrealistic? edit

I have played the original Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 & 2 a lot and was quite disappointed about the realism in the third game. For example wooden roller coasters could be constructed with loops and some of the effect objects function in completely impossible ways. Hasn't this been criticized by other fans, and if so shouldn't that be included under criticism?--Kopmis, 11 November 2006

It shouldn't because there is a rollercoaster currently being built with a jump from wooden track to a steel loop the back to wooden track. It is realistic. And plus the game is a game, it doesn't have to be perfectly real. That is the part of it that makes it fun.--msteal2342, 21 November 2006
Exactly! --FrogTape 02:47, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Any criticism must be sourced. So if you can find a reliable source, by all means, do it! SmileToday☺(talk to me , My edits) 19:43, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
if you don't like the loop, then don't use it in your rollercoasters —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.63.48.180 (talk) 02:46, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Wooden coasters could have loops on number 2 anyway —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.200.145.6 (talk) 09:03, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've noticed that the physics for a few rides are way off. My guess is one of the devs is keeping an eye on this article, because there's no mention of the unrealistic qualities the game has. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.201.85.93 (talk) 13:51, 19 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

That also plagues imported rides. One of my imported rides had massive changes in the G forces, resulting in massive changes in the EIN ratings, there are also some rides that when you import them, you have to "rebuild" some areas due to this issue. It's all in the fact that RCT3 uses a different physics engine then the first two games did. LReyome254 (talk) 17:37, 16 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Miscategorized Rides edit

The brontosaurus ride was miscategorized as "Generic". It should've been listed under "Prehistoric". I have also noticed that there is are velociraptor and stegosaurus animatronics listed under "Adventure". They should also have been under "Prehistoric".

They also should've placed the water/beach themed items in a separate category. Perhaps they aren't Atlantis or Paradise Island, but they need a separate category.

Well, sorry, but what do you want us to do about it? I just play the game and it's fun. --FrogTape 02:48, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced Critism edit

Removed the following unsourced criticism: --Ishi Gustaedr 14:31, 12 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Many members of the RollerCoaster Tycoon community were not happy with Frontier Developments taking over for Chris Sawyer for this version. Many people felt that the game was sub-par compared to the first two, even with the addition of 3D graphics and many new gameplay features.
There have also been complaints about the high-end graphic cards, computers and processors that are needed to run the game smoothly. Powerful machines are needed to render the parks in full detail without graphical slowdown or a reduction in frames per second. Especially large parks will put a significant amount of strain on even the fastest computers and processors. Some players cannot see water because their graphics cards cannot render it. The other games didn't need high end graphics cards, which made them accessible to more people.
I kind of liked the graphics of the 1st and second, on my computer, if you zoom out to much, parts of roller coasters cannot be seen. (CON) Androo123 (talk) 04:39, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject class rating edit

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 10:09, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

RCT3 comes to Steam! edit

Yay. (Although I already have the boxed version xD) I added Steam to the publishers list, feel free to make more mentions. Too bad RCT3 for Steam is US only right now. Hang on while I grab the VALVe news post to prove this.... here! --218.214.47.219 (talk) 05:53, 19 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Other parks edit

It should be noted that people are starting to make replicas of rides from disneyland or universal studios. One person even made a very large and detailed version of knotts berry farm. Trust me its all over youtube. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.107.160.195 (talk) 22:52, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

RCT3 Gold edit

There is a third expansion called Gold. It has both the wild and Splash coasters/rides on it.

Sorry I was mistaken, Gold has the Soaked expansion aswell as the regular. Platinum has Wild and Soaked expansions, with the regular. Androo123 (talk) 05:10, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, and the artical already talks about that in the expansion section

Request for expansion edit

Hmmmm.... I see that nobody has ever expanded the page since it was added in June 2008. SOMEBODY EXPAND THIS PAGE! --Tamiera (talk) 23:00, 12 January 2010 (UTC) I'm an avid player, but I don't really see what more there is to do besides expand the development section. Best of Luck, Buggie111 (talk) 00:14, 13 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Expansions edit

The Spanish wikipedia has a seperate sub-section for Soaked and wild. Should we do that here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Buggie111 (talkcontribs) 13:12, 13 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I just remembered. Buggie111 (talk) 13:14, 13 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Reviews for the Expansion Packs? edit

We need some properly sourced reviews for the expansion packs, if their still on the web. Please remember to put them in a "table" formant or something like that. 76.21.122.234 (talk) 00:31, 1 May 2010 (UTC) JohnReply

Peep Bowling edit

Is this a important part of the game? Please post below and place ":" to indent so the conversation will be clear. Thank you. and keep civil--intelati 05:10, 5 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Not important enough for a mention let alone a section. I support the revisions undertaken by intelati and Buggie111. Themeparkgc  Talk  06:23, 5 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
It's not so important. It believe it falls under the definition of an in-game mod, so that's why I trimmed out those phrases. Buggie111 (talk) 13:01, 5 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Criticisms edit

I am shocked to see why there has been no mentioning of the criticisms in this game. In many of the reviews linked on this page (such as IGN and Gamespot), there are mentionings involving the games bugs and glitches. An example is in this question involving problems with viruses (which also happened to this game on my computer recently as well which has caused it to be sent for disposal). A "Criticisms" subheaded section should be included in the "reception" section. trainfan01 7:50, September 15, 2010 (UTC)

Expansions edit

there is now a Platinum version for Mac OSX thats recently been released but isnt mentioned here its notable mainly because its actually designed for universal binary as far as i can understand, the original RCT3 for mac, was designed for the PowerPC architecture, and had poor performance on intel macs http://au.gamespot.com/mac/strategy/rollercoastertycoon3/index.html someone correct me if i'm wrong.. 110.174.171.4 (talk) 04:01, 2 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect system specs edit

I'm sorry, but there is no way that the recommended GPU for this game is a GeForce 8500, as that card is far newer than the actual game! Should it be 5800? That seems odd as well. Lukeno94 (talk) 07:39, 19 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Cover Art Proposal edit

The cover art used in this article is the lesser known UK version, or this cover. The official US cover looks like this: http://pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/rct3_pcusbox.jpg. Since the game was released in the United States (October 26, 2004) before Europe (November 3, 2004), I propose that the cover should be changed to the US version.
