WORDING ON THE PAGE edit

This page is terribly worded, the list of members is definetly correct, however the copy is all over the place and looks like it is written by a 12 year old. "Tinchy had a high pitched voice back then"? what the hell, obviously seeing as he only just hit puberty.

Members edit

Why was the list of Roll Deep members removed just because the members don't have their own pages?

Per WP:V, a policy of Wikipedia. If they are not individually notable or clearly cited as real members of the group (as opposed to occasional contributors, past members, not-really members etc.) then the list is not in line with WP policies. Policies are there to ensure accurate, quality information. Deiz talk 02:17, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
All of the External Links name members of Roll Deep. (http://www.myspace.com/rolldeepofficial, http://www.rolldeep.co.uk/, http://www.tatetracks.org.uk/roll_kapoor/roll_lyrics.shtm). The MySpace page is listed on their mixtapes/promotional material as being their official website. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/collective/A4120336 describes a 13 member crew. Also, if you take the time to listen to their music, you will hear more than 3 people... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Binarysaint (talkcontribs) 02:12, 11 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
  1. MySpace is not a Reliable Source.
  2. http://www.rolldeep.co.uk/ lists "MCS: Wiley Kat, Breeze, Flow Dan, Dizzie Rascal, Jamakabi, Jet li, Bubbles, Scratchy, Pitbull, Titchy Strider / DJs: Karnage, Danny Weed, Bionics / Vocalist: Dom P"
  3. http://www.tatetracks.org.uk/roll_kapoor/roll_lyrics.shtm doesn't list members.
  4. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/collective/A4120336 says 13, but doesn't list members.
  5. More than 3 voices in music doesn't mean anything, and isn't a list of members.

  1. Roll Deep do not maintain a website. MySpace is the most accurate source of information on the internet.
  2. rolldeep.co.uk is severly out of date. In at the Deep End was ages ago, and Dizzie isn't even in Roll Deep anymore (and hasn't been for some time)
  3. I used the tate website as a reference to show Deiz that there were more than 3 artists in roll deep
  4. More than 3 voices doesn't mean anything, but more than 3 voices talking about how they are in Roll Deep, means something.
  5. I agree that people who don't know about a subject should moderate, but they shouldn't make unfounded edits without a discussion.
  6. When you updated the list of artists with stale information, you removed info on who are producers. Why would you do this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Binarysaint (talkcontribs) 11:55, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
  1. MySpace is not a Reliable Source.
  2. http://www.rolldeep.co.uk/ appears to be their official website. It appears to have been last updated in 2003. So, yes, it appears that they do not "maintain", as in keep up to date, a website. It's still the best source of any member list provided so far.
  3. Where at http://www.tatetracks.org.uk/roll_kapoor/roll_lyrics.shtm does it show that there more than 3 artists in Roll Deep?
  4. It's still not a list of members.
  5. What do you mean?
  6. Because who are producers is not given on the only list of members available out of the various sources provided.

That's an old copy of this article and thus not a Reliable Source. --Geniac (talk) 17:57, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm not going to bother any more. If anyone wants the latest information on Roll Deep, they can view this discussion and find their own way to it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.176.82.125 (talk) 10:38, 18 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

http://www.discogs.com/artist/Roll+Deep - worded well and contains relevant and valid information. also, the blanket statement that myspace is not a reliable source is not applicable here and myspace _can_ be used as a source.wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_source_examples#Are_IRC.2C_MySpace.2C_and_YouTube_reliable_sources.3F —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.176.82.125 (talk) 14:56, 18 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Discogs is not a Reliable Source; see Discogs#Contribution system. Wikipedia:Reliable source examples#Are IRC, MySpace, and YouTube reliable sources? says, "If the identity of the author can be confirmed in a reliable, published source...". Can it? --Geniac (talk) 18:37, 18 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is the clearest image I could find of the back of the Rules and Regulations mixtape: http://www.ukrecordshop.com/image.php?id=1306&type=D (from http://www.ukrecordshop.com/item/roll-deep-rules-regulations.html) also, youtube.com/timwestwoodtv has interviews with roll deep where they advertise their myspace. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.166.249.243 (talk) 16:26, 22 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok, then. http://www.myspace.com/rolldeepofficial is listed on the back of Rules & Regulations. That's confirmation that that is their MySpace profile, and can be used as a source. The "General Info" box lists 16 members (excluding one count of Wiley, who is listed twice): "Wiley, Riko, Trim, Breeze, Scratchy, Flow Dan, Brazen, Jet Le, Roachee, JME, Skepta, and Manga on Vocals, Karnage and Maximum are the DJ's and beats by Danny Weed, Target and Wiley". --Geniac (talk) 18:08, 22 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Pay As You Go edit

Probably worth mentioning that Roll Deep were formed as a means of releasing tracks which didn't feature only PAYGC members in 2000.
