Use of "iconic" (in quotes) ... necessarily Peacock ?

If the Spray'n'wipe commercial, which every Australian knows and most could probably sing, is referred to in multiple sources as "iconic", and it is described here as "iconic" (in quotes) and the source of the adjective is given... then haven't we moved beyond peacocking and given a culturally contextual description? It seems that this persons association with the long running advertisement is a step beyond simply doing generic and unremakable ad voice overs and the (referenced) use of "iconic" helps to show that. I don't think that there is doubt that the spray'n'wipe ad is iconic of its type. but I am not asserting even that, just that as this particular ad is a cultural phenomenon due to the jingle and that this voice over artists contribution would be her most recognisable and long lived piece of work, certainly way beyond "Blinky Bill", this term refers to the special nature and is supportable. referred to in multiple sources as "iconic" — The single source cited is Moore herself: it literally says "I voiced the iconic "Spray 'n Wipe" ads". So not really an independent reliable source. I don't that is a big "if" at all. I doubt I have ever met anyone in Au who lived through the commercial tv era and doesn't know it. I'll bet you do. I should have said "since" rather than "if".

I was showing sources that affirm "iconic" as an appropriate descriptor for the advertisement in question. I don't think this is synthesis. I am not claiming that the voice-over artist who sang the song is iconic. Parsons nose (talk) 06:04, 21 June 2023 (UTC)

the advertisement in question — Your references show that the ads with Paula Duncan are "iconic", not that the ads that Robyn Moore voiced are iconic. OK. I misunderstood and thought we were discussing whether using "iconic" is a fair call. Perhaps there is not sufficient (or any) reference that Robyn Moore is the voice of that series of ads so I will add that. Cheers!
