Rio Grande Valley (disambiguation) → Rio Grande Valley – Continuation of RM: Talk:Lower Rio Grande Valley#Requested move 15 May 2021. Hopefully in the future this could lead to a WP:CONCEPTDAB, as others had proposed. Kehkou (talk) 09:52, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
- Strongly oppose By all measures, the current target in Texas/Mexico appears to be the overwhelmingly clear primary topic. In national media federal government material, or simply common usage the use of "Rio Grande Valley" without other modifiers almost solely refers to this one. Indeed, I need to scroll through dozens of pages of Google results until I find one about the New Mexico topic and not the Texas/Mexico one (or related schools, sports teams, news outlets or businesses based in Texas). The move as proposed would clearly not be of benefit to reader navigation -- with page views, even sports teams in the Texas/Mexico region, like the Rio Grande Valley Vipers receive more than the New Mexico topic. If anything, it seems the most beneficial solution to readers would be to move Lower Rio Grande Valley back to just Rio Grande Valley, as it appears to be both the common name and primary topic there.--Yaksar (let's chat) 02:01, 26 August 2021 (UTC)

- Reverting the main article name would lead back to the ambiguity issues which were thoroughly discussed and identified, but only partially corrected; editors should instead desire to disambiguate in such circumstances. Instead of google, look for articles here about NM that erroneously link to the Lower RGV page, demonstrating prodigiously that it is quite far from an "overwhelmingly clear primary topic". It is an issue which must not (and will not) go ignored; a beneficial solution must exist. With a redirect, editors will at least get a notification that a DAD was linked to when it probably wasn't intentional, instead of linking to the incorrect article, which would prevent future erroneous links.
