Made a change in the lead by editing out "For more favorable and well-supported accounts, compare the deep and detailed study by Lyn Schumaker (2001) and the shorter chapter by Richard Brown (1973)". Intend to explain further (if not obvious), perhaps refine it a little as well, but too demoralised to comment further today.
