This article implies the GA was formed with the Royal Charter in 1663. However, after the Parliamentary Patent of 1643/4, the first General Assembly meeting was in 1647.[1][2] At the time, the legal entity was "“the incorporation of Providence Plantations in Narragansett Bay in New England."[3]

If the current GA is considered the same as the royal charter GA, then should it also be considered the same as the parliamentary patent GA? I think that makes sense. Sativa Inflorescence (talk) 15:26, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
