Ugh... I promise guys, I'm really trying to make this page look good. It's difficult finding objective information on cellular companies sometimes. :( lilewyn 02:22, 11 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

thxsomuch to Admrboltz in helping me on this. n.n I've contacted the media people at Revol briefly, will try to get some more precise information on number of users, technology, history, etc... from them. I would assume that while not necessarily "correct" the information would at least be considered a verifiable source (as per verifiability policy). Page to be updated as I get more information.

Still a stub? edit

"Another way to define a stub is an article so incomplete that an editor who knows little or nothing about the topic could improve its content after a superficial Internet search or a few minutes in a reference library. An article that can be improved by only a rather knowledgeable editor, or after significant research, may not be a stub." - WP:Stub

So, since it can't be improved in content after a "superficial internet search or a few minutes in a reference library" does that mean it's not a stub anymore, or does it still qualify? I'd like to remove stub cellular companies and convert them into "real" articles.

"Controversy" ? edit

Ohio BBB report on Revol

I think I'd like to ask this user to cite sources stating Revol's BBB complaints versus other carriers before saying that they've got one of the worst records. While I'm not a fan of Revol (actually, they're a competitor of my own company) I'm interested in making sure that wireless company entries on wikipedia are firmly NPOV where these edits do not appear to be so.

From the BBB report that this user linked to:

According to information in Bureau files, Cleveland Unlimited Inc, doing business as Revol, was formerly known as Northcoast PCS. Revol's website states that it acquired Northcoast PCS effective June 20, 2005. Its service area encompasses northeast Ohio. Revol operates its own stores and also offers services and equipment through authorized dealers.
Any complaints processed by the Bureau in its three-year reporting period have been resolved. The number and type of complaints are not unusual for a company in this industry.
Complaints against this business concern Billing or Collection Issues, Customer Service Issues, Guarantees or Warranty Issues, Product Issues, Refund or Exchange Issues, Repair Issues, Sales Practice Issues and Service Issues.
When evaluating complaint information, please consider the company's size and volume of business. The number of complaints filed against the company may not be as important as the type of complaints and how the company handled them.

I'd like an opinion from watchlisters on reverting the changes, rephrasing them, and/or issuing advice to User talk:70.39.229.200 about the changes. If that user wishes to reply here about said changes, I'd appreciate the chance for discussion.

I feel the inclusion of information from the 31 BBB cases is valid; the Cingular page mentions how Cingular was kicked out of the Upstate NY BBB. Admrb♉ltz (tcbpdm) 02:48, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Even though the BBB's report says the number and type of complaints aren't unusual? That's the part of the report that had me wondering if the inclusion was valid as-stated. I can't find any link that states that they have one of the worst records on that site, though if I'm wrong I'd love to hear about it! (Actually, I'd be laughing maniacally about how bad they were, but I can't be NPOV and gloat over the failings of my enemies at the same time, y'know?) Kylu t 03:33, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
(p.s., I like the new sig additions.)
If anything it needs to be Verified. And thanks. Admrb♉ltz (tcbpdm) 03:40, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I am a former employee of Revol and everything stated in the article is correct. The company is still owned by Rocky Crossland of Cleveland Unlimited which is the company that owned Northcoast PCS. They just changed their name and went on as if nothing happened. As for the BBB complaints, I'm suprised there's only 31 of them. I was expecting that number to be well over 100. I left on good terms with Revol but I must say they are one of the worst cellular carriers out there. They even had complaints filed with the Ohio Secretary of State. I feel this information should be presented uncensored to the public since it is in fact valid. Cingular's article also has negative comments specifically regarding it's BBB problems.
Thanks, Trixxx! Quite honestly, with the lack of verification from the BBB on the matter, I was tempted to chalk it up to some vague form of vendetta, since none of the cellular companies I know are really willing to upset customers quite as much as was insinuated (and considering I'm a Sprint reseller, that's saying quite a bit...) but I'll happily take your experiences a verification of this information.
Also, I'm curious if you'd be willing to share more information (verifiable, of course) so we could flesh out the articles? I've already stated that I work for a competitor, so with your former employee viewpoint, perhaps we could hammer out a good NPOV couple articles?

i don't think this should be on the article. if we put on every company's page every person that sued them we would have a lot more work on our hands. is this relevant to the history of revol and what their business is? would it be in an encyclopedia? i dont think so. BBB Links edit

Comparing the BBB link on Revol I had posted plus the 70.*'s link, I notice they are the _exact same page_.
Not similar. Not close. Identical. There's no point in having two links pointing to the same place on one page.
Anyway, I'm keeping 70's category name (more descriptive) and putting it on my link (shorter) to remove redundancy.

If you want to compare: My link: http://www.cleveland.bbb.org/reports/newsearch2.asp?ID=1&ComID=0312000027001942
70's link: http://www.cleveland.bbb.org/reports/newsearch2.asp?ID=1&strBCode=03120000&ComID=0312000027001942&ComName=Northcoast+PCS
Thanks! ~Kylu (u|t) 23:55, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Both of the above links are dead. BBB website returns "Page Not Found." NorthCoastReader (talk) 00:06, 12 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
