Talk:Reverberatory furnace

In the second paragraph an author refers to "here often called an Air Furnace" or words to that effect. As there is no place reference at this point, i would argue that the reader has no idea where 'here' might pertain to. Because i also don't know what the author meant by 'here' or indeed where this nomenclature is in use, i am unable to correct same to a more universally undertood form. Furnace type name?

I recall reading an article (many years ago} that described and illustrated a type of furnace for iron/steel processing.

This consisted of a firebox fed hot air from a brick storage lattice, with the exhaust being cycled through a second identical lattice, heating it. Periodically the flow is reversed to recover the stored heat.

Does anyone know the name of this type of furnace? (I thought that that was a reverberatory furnace, hence the question.)

You are (I think) talking about a cowper stove, possibly referred to as a regenerating furnace. Peterkingiron (talk) 14:04, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
