Dead? edit
OK, I think it's very likely he died on Saturday along with all the others. However, some people have been turning up alive and well after their partners had given them up for dead. This may yet be the case with Reg Evans. All we know for sure is that he's missing, presumed dead. I doubt we can classify him as dead just yet. We didn't make Steve Fossett dead until his body was actually found and identified. -- JackofOz (talk) 20:32, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- An assumption of death is original research, and if the law can wait seven years before presuming missing persons dead, I think we can wait a week or so. --Rodhullandemu 20:46, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- The original article I started stated that Evans was missing, presumed dead. The death details were added by anonymous editors. I was going to revert them as an assumption, but I did find a few references so I let it stand. One was a blog (TV Tonight) [1] which gave two references: a link to the Herald Sun newspaper which listed Evans (but stated in the header that some of the people in the list were missing)[2], and a link to a subscription-only film news site Screen Hub [3] which the article summary seemed to indicate that police had confirmed Evans' death. That was not enough, but then I found the Times article [4], which I know is not an Australian media source, but was very specific in its detail that Evans' friend and neighbour was informed he and his partner had died. Given that the Times appeared to have a reporter on the ground who was there when authorities confirmed that Evans had "perished", I considered that it didn't matter if the paper was British or Australian. Anyway, it's all by the by now as The Australian [5] and The Age [6] have specifically confirmed Evans' death. --Canley (talk) 22:25, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, that settles it. It's just that the version I saw gave his date of death in 2 places, but still said he was merely missing, presumed dead. That's been fixed since. -- JackofOz (talk) 23:25, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Citizenship edit

- Regarding his place of birth, the original Herald Sun article which said he was missing clearly stated that he was "Welsh-born" (and I referenced this but someone removed the reference). The Australian does say he was born in England though, so there appears to be some conflict between sources. I imagine there will be some more comprehensive obituaries over the next few days which should clear up the matter. --Canley (talk) 22:19, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
