Future sources edit

I propose here we gather items to look out for. As they have not happened yet, they are not encyclopedia material (but they could be Wikinews material). --Una Smith (talk) 17:32, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • Eclectic Horseman is expected to publish a tribute to Ray Hunt in their May/June issue.
He needs a fuller biography, I am copying and pasting an Obituary that came in over one of my email lists. Do not know the source, but suspect a local newspaper. If you can find it, that will provide useful info. Montanabw(talk) 04:43, 22 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Deleted the obit. Its source is here. --Una Smith (talk) 05:22, 22 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Groovy, and more efficient. Montanabw(talk) 02:35, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

March 2009 edit

I fixed incoming Wikipedia links to the article, leaving just a handful. --Una Smith (talk) 18:18, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Memorial services for Ray Hunt are scheduled for later this month. I think it would be a fitting memorial for Wikipedia to produce a really fine article about him before then. Would you like to help? --Una Smith (talk) 04:56, 17 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

For a change, I am going to say if you want to write it up, go for it. I haven't the time and I actually think you will probably do a good job here. When you write, do seek a source to note the very significant connection between Hunt and Buck Brannaman, Buck used to almost follow Ray around like a puppy. I would also be careful about using the term "horse whisperer" to describe Ray unless it's a term he embraced himself (I do not know the answer to that, either way) as some NH practitioners don't like the term much, associating it primarily with the Monty Roberts crowd and/or Hollywood. Just thoughts. You'll probably do fine on this article, I may swing by to do some style tweaks, but my interests are elsewhere. Ray Hunt also has a grandson who was an instructor at Montana State U, can't recall his name right off the bat (different last name), but search the archives of The Horse magazine, they published a short article about a study the kid did on the effect of diet on training...Montana State University as the search phrase should get you there. (I was at one of the lectures where he presented his findings, basically it was "if you feed them grain, they get hot and have a hard time paying attention" I can't say it was earth-shattering new ground, but hey, now we have a double-blind study out there to be a verifiable source for the obvious.)
