Admiral Chekov edit

Maybe I'm nitpicking, but as I understand it, in the U.S. in the 1860s, the rank of admiral didn't exist. It was "flag officer". Trekphiler 13:16, 1 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, not nitpicking, just wrong. The rank was created early in the war.--172.191.0.44 (talk) 20:15, 4 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Just for the sake of clarification (and in the interest of being less bitchy than I was above), I believe the rank of Rear Admiral was created early on during the Civil War, while the rank of Admiral (that is, "full" Admiral) was indeed a post-War creation. I get in moods. Syphilis eats the brain, you know.--172.190.34.136 (talk) 06:23, 13 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Arne Saknussemm edit

I've removed the claims about the origins of Verne's character's name as a likely hoax. No other source I can find suggests anything of the sort. -- The Anome (talk) 00:29, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

I have now put in much more context to this claim and referenced it to the original website. Tranmere Robur (talk) 18:15, 19 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
