Talk:Rampart-FIPs (Falsely Imprisoned Persons)

Trying to initiate a good will, good faith discussion...

I surely am a novice, after joining the fray by creating the entry for Richard Isaac Fine, couple of days ago, I felt the need to add this entry, since I considered them tightly related. A couple more may follow. These were intended as relatively short, focused entries on issues that are current, painful, and difficult to approach with a disengaged, remote, neutral, encyclopedic perspective.

To overcome such problems: a) References were provided, possibly in access of what is usually required, and representing opposing views. b) Attempt was made to consistently state opposing views also in the text itself c) Verbatim quotes were provided from key references, to allow the reader some direct impression of the material that was the subject matter. d) The tentative nature of many of the statements was made abundantly clear.

Regardless, I felt that at the end of a decade of cover-up, it was quintessential to at least produce a framework of a semblance of a working hypothesis, for what was deliberately left as a scattered collection of facts that were purportedly unrelated by any rhyme or reason.

Already a decade ago, major legal scholars defined the events reviewed in this entry as unprecedented in U.S. history. What transpired ever since, only aggravated the matter. I found myself repeatedly using "unprecedented", repeatedly pausing to review the statements, to see if such descriptive was fully justified, and then concluding that anything less would be an understatement.

With all of that said I am seeking fresh readers, possibly younger reviewers, who were never exposed to the story before, and I would be grateful for any comments on the matter. InproperinLA (talk) 05:52, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Proposed Deletion

I'm somewhat torn by this proposal, as the issue of people being falsely imprisoned by the Rampart scandal (and continuing to be so imprisoned) is notable. But I also agree with the propsed deletion because this article is (or at least was, before editing) a coatrack for allegations regarding anyone "falsely" imprisoned (unrelated to Rampart), such as the claims about Richard Fine.

There are already articles on wikipedia about the Rampart scandal; the objective thing to do would be to edit those articles (as needed, if at all) to include a reference to the false imprisonments that were discovered (some of which still may not have been rememdied yet). --Weazie (talk) 23:39, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
