Train List edit

The train list in the game contains links to real world trains, thus this is information which could be seen as provided for an understanding of game concepts. While perhaps, the speed capabilities and years of introduction within the game itself are not necessary, the train list itself is certainly source-able and reliable data. To avoid further edit conflicts, I'll re-introduce the train list only for time being. -O.R.Comms 14:11, 19 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

@OberRanks: - List of vehicles, regardless of whether they are source-able, or linked to real-world trains, they should not be listed as they are considered inappropriate content per WP:VGSCOPE#6. So, I do not think that even the list is revamped, it should stay there. AdrianGamer (talk) 15:37, 19 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
This was also brought up on Silent Hunter, mainly with lists of playable submarines. Based on what I remember from those discussions, I think that the spirit of the policy is that lists of fictional vehicles should always stay out. But if the vehicles are real world, and have linkable articles which expand upon the game concepts, then they in fact enhance the article and should stay. Probably should get a few more opinions from other editors and then either keep or move the list out if that is what is called for. -O.R.Comms 16:47, 19 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
It should be removed entirely per #6 at WP:VGSCOPE. Real world car lists aren't allowed on racing video game articles. Same thing applies here. This sort of content is more appropriate on a game specific wiki rather than Wikipedia. Just summarise this list by saying something on the lines of "The game features X real world trains from time period Year Y – Year Z". --The1337gamer (talk) 10:11, 20 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'm leaning towards the idea that this might be a case of WP:IAR. When I first came to this article, I was actually amazed the trains weren't listed. It was a critical part of the game and my whole reason for coming to the article was to read about the real trains behind the game. I think the policy is meant to protect articles from lists of D&D weapons, futuristic vehicles, tables of monsters, etc which do agreeably contribute nothing to the articles. But, in this case, there is an actual opportunity to provide valuable information to the reader and link to real world trains (and all the history and technical data about them) which appear in the game. Unless there are serious objections, I would ask the second (revised) train list be put back in the article. -O.R.Comms 18:40, 3 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

To be honest, I believe that the train list should be notable enough to include. I came here to remove it simply because the article has a "cleanup" tag. I never understand why they are not allowed, as almost all of them are notable. For some reason we never allow articles/list like List of trains in Railroad Tycoon II, List of fighters in WWE 2K16, List of cars in Forza Motorsport 6, but songs list like List of songs in Guitar Hero, or just tracklistings in Just Dance 2014 are widely accepted. They also do not say anything about gameplay. But guideline is guideline. I guess we may need to challenge that before re-adding it. AdrianGamer (talk) 07:12, 4 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
