Fair use rationale for Image:NS logo.jpg edit

Image:NS logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Hello. I will be reviewing this article. I aim to complete the review within the next few days. If you would like to return the favour, I have several good article nominations active right now (including some railway stations), which you can find at WP:GAN. Good luck. Good article criteria edit

  Well written edit

  • I've taken the liberty of changing the lead slightly as to mention the country in the first sentence, as it is one of the most important pieces of information. Steelkamp (talk) 15:12, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • As you can see, I decided to do many changes myself. Steelkamp (talk) 15:46, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • What does "authorities' records" mean? Steelkamp (talk) 15:46, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • What are "ground support systems"? Steelkamp (talk) 15:46, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
    • Above two points to cross-check with original source.--ZKang123 (talk) 10:02, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ok checked. Authorities in source refers to the Utilities Departments. Ground support systems refers to the piles and working deck. ZKang123 (talk) 02:40, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • An air lift was used to remove the mud slurry along with a tremie pipe at the bottom of the drilling hole. – Does this mean An air lift and a tremie pipe at the bottom of the drilling hole were used to remove the mud slurry.? Steelkamp (talk) 15:46, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • When is says "These methods", what is it referring to? The breaking apart of the boulders? Steelkamp (talk) 15:46, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • The explosives could me mentioned in the same sentence as the other methods of breaking the boulders. Steelkamp (talk) 15:46, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
    • Well, the source kind of expounded on it a little as a rather dangerous method, so it's kind of a separate sentence.--10:02, 19 April 2022 (UTC)
  • "DTH machines" is plural at first, then singular. Should be consistent. Steelkamp (talk) 15:46, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • with the machine's inability to discharge the drill cuttings (mud slurry). – Should this instead be due to the machine's inability to discharge the drill cuttings (mud slurry).? Steelkamp (talk) 15:47, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • newer buildings were constructed – Who constructed the new buildings. Private enterprise or the government? Steelkamp (talk) 15:47, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
    • Seems to be private developers, checking from source.--ZKang123 (talk) 02:59, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • "Historical reasons" sounds a bit vague. Is there a reason in particular? Is that just the name that the area has been known as? Steelkamp (talk) 04:27, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
    • As per source, to better reflect the locality area.--ZKang123 (talk) 02:59, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Article says it opened when the line extension to Outram Park station was completed. As it was an extension, was there a previous section already opened? From what station was the extension from? It also says Phase I MRT segment earlier in the article. Could you provide some clarity. Was that segment the first segment of the entire system or is it just the extension? Steelkamp (talk) 04:27, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
    • The second part of Phase I... To give a bit more context, the first MRT segment was from Yio Chu Kang to Toa Payoh, then Toa Payoh to Outram Park.--ZKang123 (talk) 02:59, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Raffles Place station is one of the two paired cross-platform interchanges – This is confusing. Does it mean one of two stations which are paired cross-platform interchanges? Or one of the stations which are two paired cross-platform interchanges. I don't even know what this means. It should be clearer to the reader. Steelkamp (talk) 04:27, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
    • One of two stations which are cross-platform interchanges.--ZKang123 (talk) 02:59, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Like the adjacent City Hall stations – Should this be City Hall station? Steelkamp (talk) 04:27, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • From 28 October 1989, it began to serve the NSL when MRT operations were split. – This kinda implies that the station didn't serve the EWL, but from reading the rest of the article, that is not the case. Footnote doesn't clear it up either. Replace it with something like this: From 28 October 1989, it began to serve the NSL as well as the EWL when MRT operations were split. Steelkamp (talk) 04:27, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
    • Ah yes... Cos I copied from another station article which doesn't serve the EWL... my mistake. Fixed.--ZKang123 (talk) 02:59, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Regarding the above point, as its the first mention of the NSL and the EWL in the body, they should be spelled out in full. Steelkamp (talk) 04:27, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • The concrete frame was designed to prevent any corrosion and floatation of the tunnels. – How about {[tq|The concrete frame was designed to prevent any corrosion or floatation of the tunnels.}} Steelkamp (talk) 04:40, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • the work would proceed in three stages. – Why doesn't it just say the work proceeded in three stages. Steelkamp (talk) 04:40, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
    • Done. However, instead of in the planned three stages the work was then done in two stages (with the last two stages merged into one stage).--ZKang123 (talk) 02:59, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • Image layout is appropriate. Steelkamp (talk) 15:12, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • It's reasonable to believe you took those images yourself and images are appropriately tagged with their licence so copyright is fine. Captions are also good. Steelkamp (talk) 15:12, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • I of course recommend alt text for images although it is not a requirement for GAN, it is a requirement for articles in general. Steelkamp (talk) 04:27, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

General edit

I will put this on hold. I will check all the sources after the prose improvements are done. Steelkamp (talk) 04:40, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for taking so long, I didn't realise you had fixed everything. My spot check of the sources turned out fine, so I am going to pass this review now. Congratulations. Steelkamp (talk) 15:13, 27 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
