"Detectable"? edit
What are "detectable levels" of lead, radium, etc? It is my understanding that most water, even water that is weoll within Federal standards, contains these elements in trace amounts that can be detected when tested. If any water which lead was "detected" at all was prohibited, it would be extremely difficult to supply water to billions of people. This is why they establish maximum allowable concentrations; the substance has to be "detectable" before you can approach the maximum allowable limit.

Patent? edit
From what I can tell, the thing was not patented by Thomas, but by Curt Schmidt (US 1032951). If anyone has access to the referenced work ("Deadly glow: the radium dial worker tragedy") could they please re-check the assertion that Thomas patented the device? --Robert.Baruch (talk) 14:59, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
