Anyone think that the recordbreakingness should be emphisised? This is a truly specatular example of a hosipital, and the article does it no justice. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jrockley (talkcontribs) 24 November 2006 (UTC).

I agree. I used to go to University next door to the QMC and it is quite stupendous in scale - quite unlike any other hospital I've seen, in terms of sheer vastness. Quite how a medium sized city comes to be possessed of such a gargantuan palace of medical care, I'm not sure. As well as Britain's largest hospital (a record which may be under threat from the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary or Glasgow Southern, although neither has the QMC's awesome visual bulk) it is rumoured to be Europe's largest building in terms of floor space. I have heard that the 'new' UCH is bigger. Not so sure about the "record-breaking" facets of the QMC now.195.107.63.244 (talk) 09:43, 25 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Picture edit

Why a picture of an entrance sign?! Surely a picture of the buildings would be preferable, if only to convey their size? e.g. this one —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 131.111.128.61 (talkcontribs) 00:14 28 May 2006 (UTC).

Claims of biggest hospital in UK and largest teaching hospital in Europe need references. edit

The references at http://www.eon-uk.com/generation/nottingham.aspx and http://www.gnpartnership.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/nottingham-the-science-city.pdf are now dead links and the reference at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-13683630 doesn't mention Queen's Medical Centre at all. Therefore none of the references provided can currently substantiate this claim. Furthermore other hospitals make the same or similar claims. e.g. St James's University Hospital. If the claim can not currently be substantiated it should be removed. 86.28.133.114 (talk) 21:58, 26 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

At least one source, the gnpartnership, can be resurrected with the Wayback Machine, I haven't checked the others. I think it would be better to drop the mention of St James hospital and make clear that at the time it was built it was the largest in the UK and the largest teaching hospital in Europe. I don't think readers will expect it to still be true. The successors to the title are not really relevant to this article. I notice there are sources for it having 27 miles of corridors, which seems notable as well. TwoTwoHello (talk) 14:50, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I agree that it is dubious in the absence of a citation from an international reliable source. Dormskirk (talk) 16:51, 8 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
