Should Mutya be given credit on the page for writing the song? Keisha said in an interview that Mutya didn't write any of the songs on Taller In More Ways, and she only was given "credit" because everything was "Split into three" between the 'babes. Image:PushTheButtonSample.ogg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Some thoughts:

  • Ref 16 (Album: Sugababes, Taller in More Ways , ISLAND (info)) is dead. I found this using Checklinks.
  • "Inspiration for "Push the Button" was conceptualised by an encounter between group member Keisha Buchanan and an artist whom Dallas was collaborating with." is a bit awkward. Consider rearranging or rewording the sentence so that it doesn't end with the word "with." Maybe you could be more specific and add details.
  • "She explained: really liked this guy..." needs to open the quote. It is currently confusing because it changes from an encyclopedic tone into a very informal one, and I didn't understand at first that it was a quote.
  • Delete "According to the digital sheet music published at Musicnotes.com by Sony/ATV Music Publishing" because that information should be covered in the citation. Just state the key the music is in.
  • You've got some critique information in the Composition section. I don't think it belongs there.
  • I've never seen date formats like "26 September 2005" as I normally seem them like "September 26, 2005", but I checked WP:DATEFORMAT and its apparently fine as long as the article is consistent.
  • I think you should replace the colon in "saying: "We..."" with a comma.
  • I saw a couple of odd things with your citations. You have some "Note: insert {{{year}}}" tags, and citations 13 and 14 have a big list of similar links, and I don't know why they are there. Maybe you should eliminate them.
  • You need to make sure you've properly filled out the author, work, publisher, date, and accessdate fields for all of your citations. I wasn't able to get through a Good Article Nomination without doing this!

That's all I can see for the moment. IMO, it may be easier to go for GA status before nominating for FA status. I think you'd have a good shot at a GAN because it's a pretty well-written article. Thanks for all your hard work, and good luck! Jesse V. (talk) 06:12, 21 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose. If it's the primary topic for "Push the Button", it should be moved to Push the Button. If it's not, it should be qualified per WP:NCM. Since there are multiple songs for the title, the naming conventions say to include the artist. -- JHunterJ (talk) 13:02, 14 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'm pretty sure there's more people who know who the Sugababes are than who the Chemical Brothers are. The Sugababes song was more successful as well, and the fact that a SONG was more successful than an ALBUM is saying something. Also, when you begin typing in "Push the Button" on Wikipedia, the Sugababes song is the first suggestion you're given. Unreal7 (talk) 00:52, 17 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
That may be true, although a Grammy-winning gold record album should by no means be considered insignificant. This page apparently has more incoming links than the album article, as evidenced by the fact that it's the first choice proposed by the search bar. (This can be considered as one indicator for primary topic status.) However, I don't think we can ignore that readers seem to be consistently looking for the album article a lot more often than this page – more than twice as often in some months. I think we would be inconveniencing a large number of readers if the song article was made primary instead of the disambiguation page. Jafeluv (talk) 11:41, 17 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Here's the wonderful video on YouTube: [6]. It was uploaded at the SugarbabesVEVO channel, on 8 October 2009 and has had 20,968,441+ views. I see no reason to suspect this video is not fully in the public domain and has been published without any copyright restriction. But it has the description, shown immediately below: "Music video by Sugababes performing Push The Button. (C) 2005 Universal Island Records Ltd. A Universal Music Company." Presumably "(C) 2005 Universal Island Records Ltd" means that it can't be copied without the express permission of Universal Island Records Ltd? Except that when I click on the link I'm not "making a copy" of anything, I'm just immediately at the YouTube site watching the video, like 20,968,440 others have done before me. The video isn't stored anywhere as a copy at Wikipedia, it's just the link that's stored? Is this correct? Perhaps a copyright expert like User:Diannaa could advise on this? It should be noted that the DVD of the video is already given as a WP:PRIMARY source in the article, multiple times, in the "Music video" section. As the DVD is already linked as a source, would this prevent or preclude the YouTube video from being used as well as, or instead of, the DVD itself? Could or should the YouTube video be used as an External link? Does using the YouTube link as a reference, or as an external link, pose some kind of "unacceptable or uncontrollable future risk" in terms of copyright infringement? Perhaps this is written down clearly somewhere in WP policy that I have failed to find. Of course, if the video was linked, it might make the entire description of the video content somewhat redundant, except for those readers who, for whatever reason, can't access YouTube? Thanks. Hi Martinevans123. Of course the music video is copyright, as is pretty much everything else you find online. It's okay to link to videos that were uploaded by the copyright holder to their official YouTube channel. Linking to user-uploaded content at YouTube is not okay however, as such material is invariably a copyright violation. Hi Dianna, thank you very much for your prompt response. So in this case, just adding a link to the offical video would be a breach of copyright? There seems to be some variation in how copyright holders mark their material as copyrighted. but many users upload music and other material they have created in completely original form. Don't they automatically retain copyright of that? Or is it surrendered to YouTube? Does it matter? In this cause, for example, if a notable video critic offered their commentary on the video, would it be ok to link to it as a source? Or would we need some kind of explicit declaration on their part that they had made their commentary available under some kind of free licence in the public domain?
