Time line logic

I know that's an awkward question, but I'd like to ask it after I saw this film:

That means the David (the protagonist) of the whole film doesn't exist anymore at the end of the film? In the moment he destroyed the time machine in the basement he himself is knowingly erased from existence (because there now was no time machine with that he could have travelled to the past in the first place), leaving only his 7 years old counterpart to be in existence? And the David at the end of the film (who's asking out the girl for the second time) is that 7 years old counterpart and not the adolescent David of the rest of the film?

Wow, it's quite an oppressive imagination that he deliberately decided to extinguish himself just to make sure that his girlfriend will not die because of the time machine. Creepy!--31.17.153.15 (talk) 23:31, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Box office failure?

The article says "Alongside mixed critical reception, the film was a box office failure worldwide with grossing $33 million against production budget of only $12 million." How does that make sense? It sounds like it earned 21 million by my math, hardly a failure to make more than the production money back. 24.9.249.65 (talk) 16:35, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

You have to bear in mind that Box Office Gross is just that, gross. It's the total revenue earned, not all of what gets trickled down to the studio. Theaters get a cut of the income, per their business model (though they generally make the most of their funds from concessions). As a rule, studios get about half. So, 33 million is about 16 million, so the movie made only a little more than its budget by about 4 million. You're right that it doesn't qualify as a box office bomb, unless there were additional costs behind marketing the movie to add to the budget. 128.92.153.146 (talk) 16:41, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

Inaccurate Ending

"David approaches Jessie at school, displays knowledge of the future, and confides in her that they are about to "change the world"" Is there another cut of this movie? I ask because that's not the ending. It's true he displays knowledge of the future by "guessing" what Jessie is going to say before she says it, but that's when the scene cuts to black and the credits roll. 128.92.153.146 (talk) 20:33, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
