Vince's Storyline Death edit

Storyline wise, I would guess Vince's control over everything as of last night.

Is the General Manager position on RAW still assumed vacant??? Didn't Vince tell everyone two weeks ago that he was going to keep his role... but have Coach as his assistant??? Matt

That he did... there was never anything conclusive to suggest that we could make the assumption. McMahon did say that he could not hire a replacement, so he would be retaining the position and hiring an assistant to help him... Clint 06:17, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Stone Cold's Position edit

I've moved Stone Colds Sheriff dates to the CO-GM section as he was officially the CO-GM of Raw (see the re-hiring footage from RAW). Stone Cold stated he wanted his own terms, which was a position unique to himself, so he invented the title "Sheriff" User:WackadooXanadu

His titles as co-GM and Sheriff were seperate and not the same. He was co-GM, then lost the position in the Team Austin vs. Team Bischoff Survivor Series match, then brought back later as the "Sheriff". TJ Spyke 09:10, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Other WCW People edit

What about a listing for the following, who all appeared on air as authority figures for WCW

  • Jim Herd 1988 - 1991
  • Kip Allen Frey 1991 - 1992
  • Bill Watts 1992 - 1993 User:VWG

Wasn't Rowdy Roddy Piper the WCW Commissioner for a while? TheUnknown285 15:09, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Interim GM" edit

Vince McMahon is no longer referred to as "Interim GM" on RAW (either on TV or WWE.com). When he named Coach as his Executive Assistant, he essentially gave him the GM job under a new title. Ohgltxg 6:28 10 March, 2007 (UTC)

Honorary GM edit

Michael Pena needs to be kept on this page as GM. A "point" was made that it should not count because he was an "honorary" general manager. This person stated that it was similar to when Christy Whitman, former gov. on New Jersey, was made an honorary WWE Champion and that would mean that she should be added to the list of WWE Champions. However, she was NOT made an honorary WWE Champion; she was simply presented with a WWE Championship for her achievement in the same style Linda McMahon presented Laura Bush with one, WWE presented the Detroit Pistons with one for winning the 2005 Finals and when TNA presented David Eckstein with an X-Division Championship. The child made on-screen decisions and therefore should be added. What does everyone else think? — Chad "1m" Mosher Email Talk Cont. 23:19, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I added William Regal under temporary GMs for July 2, 2007. Virakhvar321 06:04, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Article title edit

May I ask who thought up the name of this article. Authority figures? Why not just Wrestling executives or management personnel? Authority figures sounds silly and somewhat paternal. --THE FOUNDERS INTENT TALK 00:52, 1 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

The TNA Directors of Authority are authority figures. You wouldn't call them Directors of Management or Directors of Wrestling Executives. It is because they didn't direct wrestling management or executives. The name is fine. Mr. C.C. (talk) 17:12, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Because it is a dramatic roll, and in many cases the actors have no real executive or management authority. By the way, this article has deep issues confusing wrestling plots with reality. 71.134.227.98 (talk) 06:36, 10 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Other titles edit

How about the title "booker" for the person that controls the storyline for promotion or match? --THE FOUNDERS INTENT PRAISE 16:04, 21 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

RAW Guest Hosts edit

Where are the WWE RAW Guest Hosts table? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.171.33.61 (talk) 02:01, 12 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's CRUFT. It's like having a list of every SNL host. The list would just continue growing every week and is not notable. TJ Spyke 03:35, 12 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well, I understand what you are saying TJSpyke, but oddly enough there is a Wiki page (maybe 2 pages) featuring a list of all the SNL episodes with hosts and musical guests (with notes and annotations) and no one says anything about that. Anyways, perhaps someone will create a new page about the RAW Guest hosts themselves and we can add a link to it here.(That's only a suggestion or a possibility) We'll have to see what happens in the future.70.31.220.110 (talk) 08:51, 15 September 2009 (UTC) samusek2Reply

That's a pity I used wiki to find out this stuff.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.100.221.196 (talk) 16:33, 14 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Is it anymore cruft than wrestlers who had control for one week? Tony2Times (talk) 21:45, 14 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
You mean besides the fact that the Guest Host list will just get longer every week while the temp hosts was only once in awhile? My opinion is that "one night GMs" should not be listed either (although at least those have a case for being listed). It's not notable that Maven was GM for 1 night, or Michale Pena, etc. Only actual GM's and Interim GM's (like Jonathan Coachman was acting GM for a few months) should be listed. TJ Spyke 22:15, 14 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
It really doesn't matter what TJ Spyke's opinion is, this is not his personal article and just because a list is long is not a valid argument, what does that have to with anything. The fact remains that this is a page for authority figues in wrestling, wheter it be for one day or five years or a long list or short list. Beast from da East (talk) 20:46, 13 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
It's CRUFT, pure and simple. This has been discussed already at WT:PW and agreed to just mention the Guest Host concept and a link to WWE's page for them. TJ Spyke 20:49, 13 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
I don't understand why you are so against this. What makes it cruft? Just because of a long list you are against it. WWE decided to go along with this and all hosts should be listed here because they are GMs for a night.Beast from da East (talk) 21:08, 13 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
No, they are not GM's. They have the same power as GM, but they are not GM (Vince made this clear when it started). I have already explained my position many times (here and at WT:PW), I don't feel like repeating myself again. TJ Spyke 21:11, 13 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
if you want to know who all have guest hosted Raw, click this link from WWE's website. http://www.wwe.com/shows/raw/special/allspecialguesthosts/ Boutitbenza 69 9 (talk) 07:56, 20 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

You know, there have been some awful decisions over the years from the WP:PW, but this one truly sucks. I came here looking for that list in particular, and I'm not the only one. If people come to Wikipedia to look for specific information, it should be made available to them. And I understand, maybe they shouldn't ALL be listed here, but a separate article that is cited here would be MUCH appreciated. And there's no good reason it can't exist! Ridiculous! Dahumorist (talk) 19:58, 17 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Just because someone might be looking for the info is not reason to include something on Wikipedia. If I wanted to look up every director from Michigan named "Dave", should that info be here (yes I know that is silly, but it's the same logic)? Same thing about hosts for SNL, or celebrity contestants on game shows, etc. There is a link provided where people can get the list if they want it. TJ Spyke 21:15, 17 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Of course, WWE is known for its revisionist history (i.e. not listing Benoit as a Rumble winner), and not being 100% accurate anyway (you'll notice WWE.com's Hardcore title history is incomplete). What it comes down to is that encyclopedic material (i.e. Wikipedia ::wink wink::) needs to make up for things like that. If one day, WWE decides that Al Sharpton is an a-hole, they could simply remove him from that page and then what? It didn't happen? Explain for us peons what the actual reasoning could be for not being allowed to make a separate article containing the desired info. Dahumorist (talk) 02:35, 18 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hogan TNA president??? edit

Wasn't this storyline-wise (thus kayfabe), basically meaning Carter is still president? Supertanno (talk) 10:51, 22 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

FCW edit

Shouldn't a section be made for FCW, mentioning Abraham Washington, Maxine ... Wrestling0101 (talk) 01:30, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • That sounds like a fine idea, if you have the information for it. It's not televized and I can't find press releases for it on WWE so it will be hard to document. DB (talk) 05:31, 21 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wrestling edit

So, with the WWE taking the 'wrestling' out, should we no longer list them here? :) DB (talk) 05:31, 21 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Between Vickie and Hart edit

Umm who was in Charge of Raw between Vickie and Bret? The dates listed implies that for nearly a year No one was in charge. Was that when the Guest Hosts were the primary people? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.226.210.21 (talk) 04:08, 1 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

The guest hosts were in charge of Raw from June 29, 2009 to May 3, 2010, in between Vickie Guerrero's first tenure (which ended on June 8, 2009) and her second tenure (May 10, 2010) as Raw General Manager. It was announced during her second tenure that guest hosts no longer had any booking power from that point onwards. SilentGanda (talk) 15:04, 17 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

WCW? edit

What happend to the WCW section? Why was that removed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.226.210.21 (talk) 04:12, 1 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Other promotions? edit

Lessee...

This list could go on and on. How about ol' Mr. Ring-A-Ding-Dong Dandy himself, Ed Whalen, using his legit clout to censor Stampede Wrestling broadcasts? Of course, I don't want to have to complain YET AGAIN about another article giving undue weight to WWE and TNA.RadioKAOS (talk) 17:47, 28 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hornswoggle is not verified as the Anon Raw GM edit

Hopefully people stop adding that. It is all unverified speculation based on Santino CLAIMING that the GM was under the ring and Hornswoggle being under the ring. It ignores all kinds of other explanations like:

  1. Santino made an error (Jericho couldn't track down the GM, why could Santino?
  2. Santino lied (perhaps the GM got to him, perhaps he wanted to pretend at victory, hated Hornswoggle
  3. Anon GM being a rotating role (Hornswoggle being the Anon for just that night but not the preceding years)

A recent article from WWE confirms this neutrality:

The Anonymous Raw General Manager returned by Anthony Benigno on 1 December 2014
The familiar “da ding” of the Anonymous Raw General Manager certainly didn’t inspire confidence in a fair shake for the WWE Universe when Daniel Bryan’s tenure running Raw came to an end last week. The sinister laptop wasted no time in stirring up trouble when he (she? Hornswoggle?) took over the reins of the red brand.

If it was absolutely known for sure that he was the GM it would not put a question mark next to it. It would not ask "she?"

Claiming it is Hornswoggle is lazy research. Wizard's First Rule. --184.145.17.158 (talk) 14:49, 3 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Scope of this article? edit

This article is a bit fuzzy about its scope. While it first talks about on-screen authority figures it then give lists (for WWF/WWE) including the actual company boss from Vince Sr. onwards, who had no on-screen role at all. Str1977 (talk) 12:25, 23 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
