What does professional wrestling mean edit

Wikipedia seems unclear on this. The article at professional wrestling is about the sports entertainment genre... indeed, professional wrestling seems to be the protypical and most important example of this genre of entertainment. But even the article is not entirely consistent about this.

And Category:Professional wrestling genres currently includes several genuinely competitive sports, for example Lucha libre and Puroresu.

I'm unsure about exactly how to resolve this. The problem is that there seems to be consensus that the sports entertainment known as professional wrestling is the primary meaning of this term. But I'm not convinced this is true. If that could be overturned, it would solve a lot.

I'm particularly interested in how much following this spectacle has worldwide. It's strong in the USA, obviously, and it's also strong in Australia where I live.
