Talk:Problematic integration theory

This article is ordered by introduction, history, concepts, current usage, and reference. It is organized well, but the important words in the theory and the definitions do not link to other sites of Wikipedia. It should include relevant references and citations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikagu (talkcontribs) 15:00, 18 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Good connections between theory and references. Try to incorporate more links within the article to other sites within Wikepedia and then link from those sites back to your article. That will encourage movement back and forth. Turnj (talk) 08:37, 10 December 2011 (UTC)turnjReply

This is really well done, but I can't help thinking the History section is a bit cut short. Can you discuss more about how the communication field expanded with the introduction of this theory? What ripples were made right away, or did it take time for people to catch on and use the theory in research?--LaRabiosa (talk) 03:33, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

This article has accurate references and good explanations about the theory. I could see you made progress on this. But it will be better to explain more about the history part. (same as Larabiosa) User: Mikagu

This article is well developed and the structure is organized in a clear manner. The content is rich and covers most of the elements needed to understand this theory. Nevertheless, there is room for improvement in many sections. I will mention three urgent improvements that could be implemented to elevate the quality of the article and boost its nature as a Wikipedia page. First, there are important keywords in the introduction without links, such as integration, problematic, cognitive… etc. these words are very important for the reader to understand the context of the theory. Second, the theory application section, which is called in the article: Current Usage, could be significantly improved. This section could be presented in sections by category; Health, Organizational Communication, Internal Bureaucracy…etc. Then under each category comes explanations with some practical examples. This structure would facilitate knowledge consumption by readers. Third, there are no visual images to explain the different elements of the theory. Adding some visuals to “The concepts and the “Assumptions” sections could improve the quality of the article significantly. CD1074 (talk) 10:40, 12 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello! This page currently provides a comprehensive and unbiased overview of the theory. One direction you could take is to expand on other ways that PI has been applied. This could also encourage the usage of other citations, which presents one major problem with this page. Although, this page includes 28 references, they are sourced from 3 authors, further, Barbow’s multiple citations come from the same book and page.

Another problem with the page is the inclusion of UMT, complete with a section header and full overview of this theory, but without linking the actual page) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncertainty_management_theory

With these updates our Wikiproject can continue to provide shareable knowledge on Communication Theory. Dj922 (talk) 02:29, 17 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

This article has a clear structure and easy to read for those who are not familiar with this theory. Currently, the sources are not diverse enough to provide a neutral view on the topic. In addition, one area to improve might be to organize or combine the notes and references section.

The “Current usage” section can be changed to “Applications”. Few points made under the “Current usage” page can also be organized into subtopics to increase readability.

Furthermore, there are opportunities to explore more up-to-dates researches on the problematic integration theory. For example, in Calderon article: "Introducing a Critical Approach to Studies of Uncertainty: Engaging Uncertainty with Hispanic Adults in Colorado during the COVID-19 Health Crisis". It provides new insight on factors that determine what kinds and how uncertainty comes to be experienced by particular individual building on theories including the problematic integration theory.
