Title

edit

Does anyone know what title Victoria Melita used between her divorce from Grand Duke Ernst of Hesse and her marriage to Grand Duke Cyril of Russia? I have added it in under her maiden name, as she might have gone back to that, but if she used another title that should be included. Prsgoddess187 15:49, 23 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Photos

edit

I've added images to this article, but I'd like to make sure they're all OK to use. The main photo was taken prior to World War I and appears to be from a German postcard. I copied it off a web site run by Jesus Ibarra. The web site address is listed with the photo information. His e-mail doesn't work, so I couldn't contact him for information. I think the general rule is that anything published prior to 1923 is in the public domain in the U.S. All of the photos used here look like they came from postcards that were published in Germany and elsewhere well before 1923. Please remove the photos if I'm wrong and they aren't public domain.--Bookworm857158367 22:06, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

GA Sweeps

edit

This article has been reviewed as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Project quality task force. I believe the article currently meets the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. There are however some problems with thearticle which should be addressed.

  • The lead is very short and should be extended to two paragraphs which give a clear picture of the princess and her life. At the moment the lead conspiculouly fails to provide an adequate introduction.
  • Nicknames like Ernie and Ducky are used throughout. These should be changed to their proper names. Not only is it unencyclopedic, its disconcerting for the reader.
  • I noticed a few contractions like "didn't". These should be converted to encyclopedic prose.
  • In the section on her daughters, the article has inline citations in the middle of sentances. These should be move to after punctuation.

The article history has been updated to reflect this review. Regards, Jackyd101 (talk) 23:31, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Solid article. Possible GA candidate. Use of images in this context qualifies as fair use, and is generally not a problem.Badbilltucker 22:33, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

caption to photo

edit

The photo says Princess and Grand Duchess. Underneath it has her title from her first marriage and 'tenure'. Why is this there? it sort of makes it look like that was her main title in her life.--2607:FEA8:D5DF:F945:DA5:33AC:5755:B7C6 (talk) 19:00, 2 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
