Their true purpose and creators are still unknown. Some researchers claim that deer stones are rooted in shamanism and are thought to have been set up during the Bronze Age around 1000 BC, and may mark the graves of important people."
First sentence: they are associated with graves, believed to guardians of the dead
Third sentence: their purpose is unknown
Fourth sentence: some say they are graves
Are they grave markers or is that only a theory? This paragraph is confusing in content and structure.
Suggested edit:
"Out of the 900 deer stones found in Central Asia and Siberia, around 700 are located in Mongolia. The stones are thought to have been set up during the Bronze Age around 1000 BC. Their true purpose and creators are still unknown; however, some claim they are shamanistic, mark notable grave sites, and serve as guardians of the dead."
The "some researchers claim" and "it is believed" bits do not sound authoritative whatsoever. I have no expertise in this area, though, and don't want to overstep my bounds, hence this talk page section.
