Article name edit
Shouldn't the article name reflect what the club most recently called themselves? Naming this page "Portland Timbers (1985–1990)" seems more appropriate. --Blackbox77 (talk) 05:02, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
- That seems like it would be misleading. The team was only called the Portland Timbers from 89 to 90. I think the Portland Timbers (WSL/APSL) redirect coupled with the Portland Timbers (disambiguation) page should be sufficient. Although now that I look at the blurbs in the disambiguation page, the F.C. Portland one could use a sentence about the team being called the Timbers for their final two years of existence. - However the second division Whitecaps played under the 86ers name for a majority of their existence. I know there are other articles out there where the page takes the most recent name of the no longer existing subject matter. Also, if an existing club were to change its name today only to fold a few years later, I'm sure common practice would dictate the title is not to be reverted back to the old name, no? --Blackbox77 (talk) 02:53, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
