The ISO 639-3 codes for Poqomchi' language used to be like this:
poh: Western Poqomchí
pob: Eastern Poqomchí
However, there seems that a change has occured, and now the language has a single code: poh.

The change has come about as a result of the most recent round of approved and published changes to ISO 639-3 code mappings, issued by SIL (administrators of this standard) in Jan-Feb of 2009. As I understand it, last year in 2008 a number of change proposals were submitted to SIL's ISO admins that basically sought to rationalise a few of the Mayan language codes in 639-3 so that they more closely reflected language and not mere dialectical differences, as put forward by Mayan linguists like Nora England and supported by Lyle Campbell & others. As a result in mid Jan 2009 a merger of the two former Poqomchi' dialect codes was adopted, & was published along with a brace of others in or around February. See the list of adopted ISO 639-3 changes from 2008 here, in particular change request 2008-058 that merged Eastern Poqomchi' [pob] with Western Poqomchi' [poh].
As a side note, while someone's kindly gone through to update the various ISO codes in the infoboxes for most (maybe all, haven't checked) affected Mayan language articles, I think there's some more updating work to be done in the article texts themselves. --cjllwʘTALK 02:05, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
