Relating this to perennial plants? edit

Does someone have some insight into how this could be expanded to explain the hermeneutics of the terms polycarpic and perennial? For example: are there polycarpic annual plants? Or must a polycarpic plant also be perennial? Conversely, according to the moncarpic page, some perennial plants are monocarpic: it takes them some years to reach maturity for flowering, but they produce fruit only once, then die. One user on the perennial discussion page seems to say that only herbaceous plants should get the term perennial. This seems unhelpful to classifying plants broadly. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Polycarpic&action=edit&section=new# — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rsover4 (talkcontribs) 20:05, 17 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
