"Themes" section is original analysis? edit

I tagged the "Themes" section as OR. There are no citations pointing out the secondary sources that these analyses might have come from. It's most likely that these themes simply came from the mind of an editor (starting pre-2006) and have been revised/refined since then by other well-meaning editors. Trouble is that this sort of thing isn't allowed in wikipedia.

There's still a chance that these analyses did indeed come from published notable secondary sources, so I didn't just remove the section. For those who would like to see the section remain, I suggest finding those sources and adding them in. If nobody bothers to do that "in due course", then the section should be removed as unsupportable original analysis/research.

Meaning of Words edit

What is the meaning of "towarive" in the sentence "The two women are wary but polite towarive, causing trouble for both of them."? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.23.5.179 (talk) 21:06, 8 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

The sentence had been garbled by vandalism. I have restored it to read "The two women are wary but polite towards each other. Demelza shows courage and fierce loyalty to Ross but is somewhat impulsive, causing trouble for both of them." DuncanHill (talk) 21:37, 8 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Duplication of sections edit

The article has two sections labeled "Novels". I propose to merge them. Also, there's a section called "Protagonist" which is more or less duplicative of a later subsection called Ross Poldark. I also propose to merge those. Novellasyes (talk) 17:19, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

How the list of characters is displayed edit

That looks klutzy to me. I just looked at about ten other novel pages on Wikipedia and there doesn't seem to be a standard way to do this (although there might be and I am missing it). The way it is done on this page is not something I observed on any of those other pages (but I might be looking at a really bad sample). Novellasyes (talk) 18:31, 11 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Plot summary? edit

This would be a huge amount of work because it is 12 novels but in terms of really nailing the article, it seems like it would be a great idea to have a section that listed out plot summaries for each of the 12. In the article A Dance to the Music of Time, there is a link to separate articles about each of those 12 novels, but those articles in turn are very sparse. So it doesn't seem like trying to do separate articles is realistic but...a plot summaries section in this article, with (say) 5-10 sentences summarizing each of the novels, that would be good. A further complication is that in the absence of a plot summary section, the current section on "characters" is doing most of the work of summarizing the plot, but in a patchworky and piecemeal way. Possible breakoff article on "Ross Poldark" edit

I was working on a sandbox to get into more of a plot summary of the twelve-volume series but instead, it turned into a sandbox article on "Ross Poldark", the first novel. I don't know if it will meet with acceptance to do a breakoff article on that novel. If it does, I would plan to do the same with the remaining novels. Putting the link here to see what people think. I made that change here: Ross Poldark (novel) and so we'll see what happens with that. Novellasyes (talk) 16:58, 17 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
