Word. Could whomever wrote this supply a source for the closing of Pilottown's only school house in the 1970s? I'm working on a project at work and I've found that according to a State Times article dated September 16 1967, p 7-A, "State's Smallest Schools Will Stay" no byline, that in 1967, amidst desegregation plans, and a general trend toward standardization and consolidation, Pilottown and Australia Island were the two smallest, most-remote schoolhouses in the state, throwback oddities really, and thus were impossible to desegregate, improve, shut-down, or, hell, even really regulate, hence the school boards with official jurisdiction in those respective parishes had no plans or ability to close those schools and reroute the pupils. The article mentioned above paraphrases unnamed state, school officials as saying that "the two smallest schools in Louisiana will never close" That's a pretty big about-face, then, in terms of policy. I'd be interested to know if the closure was the result of (1) a federal mandate (2) a lack of students (3) in the case of pilot town, a hurricane strike, there were some pretty nasty ones (4) whim. Article history shows that the bit about the school being closed in the 1970s was added by User talk:67.160.115.83; perhaps you can ask them there. While I don't know, I rather suspect #2 as the reason for the closing of the school, as Pilottown became more of a base where pilots would stay on and off rather than actually keeping their families there. -- Infrogmation 09:10, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Much as I'd like to think it was flying monkeys, I have to agree with a lack of students following Hurricane Camille's damages to the area. I did some relief work with the Red Cross after one of the mid-90's hurricanes (Opal, I think) passed near the mouth of the river. There were many families living in deteriorated mobile homes given to them by the government as "temporary" housing after Camille. Macmedic892 06:27, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

The Lead

• Metro population (US Census numbers only)
• Brief note about historical roots/founding
• Nicknames, if notable
• Primary industries supporting its economy (e.g. service, manufacturing, tourism, etc...)
• Notable unique characteristics and characteristics commonly associated with it

What incorporates your argument is line four, even. Because of that I'll abide to Wiki-guidelines as long as it's a summary. Furthermore I added meritorious information into History. Because of your edit it repeats itself. I'll rewrite it. And where are you getting "Some people will only read the lead", information from? I find that hard to believe if People see a History section and want information. Please do me a favor, don't double space. Finally, thanks for correcting my decision.
