Piacentine food

Hello, thank you for the Piacenza food addition. I guess you live in or near Piacenza. When you say "animal fats" do you mean "lard" (fat from a pig), or also other kinds of animal fat? Also, you say "turtlit" is not a Piacenza specialty. But my family, which speaks 100% Piacentino dialect (in USA), uses this term "turtlit." If you know this food is actually from Ferrara then maybe I should remove it from the article. But my family said that everyone cooks this in Piacenza for the holiday, "turtlit" with mostarda di frutta, chestnuts, and other ingredients inside. Thank you. Hi, Im piacentino and I know what is cooked in Piacenza and in Ferrara too. In both cities are cooked what u call with the name "turtlit" but its are differents. In Piacenza we have "turtlit" (in italian "tortelli") with the form of a candy (http://www.madeinkitchen.tv/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/tortelli-piacentini_jpg.jpg). Thay are filled with spinach and seasoned with butter and sage. In Ferrara there are "turtlit" (with the name of "Capellacci" or "caplaz"). Form is the classic (http://www.taccuinistorici.it/fotonews/3081.jpg), they are filled with pumpkin and seasoned with ragout or mushrooms.

There are other two differents kinds of turtlit: "anolini" in Piacenza and "cappelletti" in Ferrara but they are very similar (both filled with meat and laying inside liquid cream or broth. In Piacenza for the holiday we cook "anolini" and in Ferrara "cappelletti".

Even though there are some smoked products like pancetta, the manufacturing of typical Piacenza's one does not comprises smoking. This is ruled by PDO statement. --Mr pipps 03:33, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Citta and Comune

Someone in making some change or other in here remarked the Piacenza is not a comune, it is a citta. Would you care to explain that, my friend? Why does the official site say comune? Is not the city the principal place of the comune? I must confess to a certain ignorance of intimate Italian affairs, which is why I rely on sources. Comune is the smallest unit of government with elections, a mayor and a council. Città means "town" with no political meaning. A città can be or not a comune, usually it is, but it's not implied.

That's not true. Every "Città" is a comune. "Città" is an honorary title gived to the most important Comuni with a presidential decree. Piacenza is a Città, but the municipal institutions are the "Comune di Piacenza", that's why you can find in the official website "Comune di Piacenza". Gossolengo

On the Trebbia river in gossolengo the Battle of Trebbia was fought on 18 December 218 BC between the Roman legions of the consul Tiberio Sempronio Longo and the Carthaginian troops of Hannibal, which ended with the victory of the latter. According to popular tradition, the name Gossolengo derives from "long bone", the femur of a large mammal found in a moat. Roncaglia

When I search for "Roncaglia" I get redirected to this article. Is "Roncaglia" an old or alternative name for this city? I didn't see anything in the article explaining this issue so more information would be appreciated.-Schnurrbart (talk) 17:33, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
