Hi, please don't delete my page, I am new to this and am trying to create a tutorial page on how to use a Phred score- a molecular biology tool currently used by much of the academic community.

Tutorial pages fall under the "instruction manual" clause of WP:NOT. Wikibooks is a better place to put the material. ColourBurst 23:10, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Needs Basic Overhaul

I corrected some factual errors in the "history" section (gleaned from the documentation and commercial distributor), but it occurred to me that this article is really more about the program "Phred" itself, of which the quality scores are evidently only one aspect of. The article should probably be re-configured (and re-titled) appropriately – feel free to do so. Respectfully, Agricola44 (talk) 15:19, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

As part of an overhaul, should phred have an uppercase P? The original Ewing et al papers have it all lowercase, as does the above linked documentation.

Overhauled: split off description of Phred

I followed Agricola44's suggestion and split this article into two pages - one describing the program Phred titled Phred base calling, and one (this one) that just concentrates on quality scores. A lot of the original content was moved to Phred base calling. Added some historic information and relevant citations. Genomesequencer (talk) 16:49, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Base 79 of the image is called as G even though it's blatently A. Having worked with chromatograms all summer I find it hard to believe Phred would mess this one up... has the file definitely not been edited or anything? Evercat (talk) 19:48, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

What is an "sequencer trace?"
