Pronunciation edit
I have never met this word other than in writing in this article (OTOH I've often heard talk of "an idiom" or "an idiomatic expression" which are supposedly synonyms of it). Now the pronunciation of English words is sometimes notoriously unobvious. How is "phraseme" pronounced? /freiz'mi:/ (phrase me)? /fra'zi:m/ (frah-ZEEM)? - I don't see how it could be anything other than /ˈfreɪziːm/ given the pattern in phoneme, morpheme, etc. Nardog (talk) 06:16, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
"sit" = undergo edit
I have heard both "SIT an EXAM" and "sit FOR an exam" (where 'for' may be elided, just as "brush up (on)..." where 'on' is optional. Nevertheless, 'on' does append meaning, (as does 'up' itself) Stjohn1970 (talk) 14:13, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
