Phoenix Alberta: I think it employed in the neighbourhood of 400 men. The mill operated on the north side of the North Saskatchewan River, with about 24-28 cutting/falling camps on the south side of the river. Any relationship to Alexo, Alberta? edit
It is difficult to find much information on Phoenix, Alberta on the web. A search on Google Books shows some preview text stating it was located a few miles east of Nordegg. Any ideas where Phoenix was located in relationship to Alexo? If Google Earth is correct, Alexo is approximately 12 miles east of Nordegg. Alternately, could it be that Phoenix and Alexo are the same place, where it was originally named Phoenix but its named changed to Alexo? --Hwy43 (talk) 05:18, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- The descriptions seem to fit. But Life histories of North American birds of prey and The Canadian field-naturalist on Google Books mentions it in 1933, the Alexo coal mine started up in the 1920s. 117Avenue (talk) 00:05, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
